Default P4 Chassis thread

I am in the process of building up my P4 chassis'd TLT and just wanted to start a thread so that others could post up there setups, tips or any questions they have with the P4.

Mainly so Tyler's vender thread would'nt be filled with these types of questions.

I am not a comp crawler so some of the things about the wheelbase don't really bother me.

On this would I be able to drill some new mounting holes for the lower links in the chassis to shorten the wheelbase?

And drill new holes in the upper link mounts on the axles so the upper links match the new hole locations for the lower links?

I was wondering about the slider from the pede tranny going to the front axle hitting the upper link if I wanted to mount the trans as far forward as possible?

I really enjoyed building the P4 up so far! And am just waiting to get my pede tranny finished to get this thing running!

I know you love the sheets!!!:-P

Does the shaft hit the upper link? I know mine is set up just like Tylers in his thread and there is no way that the link will come close to the front shaft. I also have my tranny mounted in the center of the holes in the main plate. Good luck and looks good so far.

the shaft does not hit the upper link, but it is very close. i have the tranny mounted as far forward as i could get it without the shaft hitting.

Well got the top shaft for my pede tranny the other day.

Still need to get a lathe motor and pinion gear? Running a 87t spur.

Put my epic stock in just to run it, but had it wired regular so it had more power going in reverse. Did'nt want to wire this motor backwards.

So in short no real run on the P4 just yet.

Question though. Which do you guys think is better? Running the motor in the front or rear?

And if I flipped my tranny to run the motor in the front would I be able to run the epic? or do I still need to wire it backwards?

Default Getting Closer

Well I finally got my pede tranny completed!

So I was able to get my P4/TLT put together!!!

I originally had the motor in the rear, but since I am using a EPIC Outlaw Stock motor for now I ended up flipping the tranny so the motor was in the front and the truck would run forward!

Have not run it for real yet. I did climb it over a Coconut!

For a Newbie to Rock Crawling I am very happy with the P4 so far!

I still need to finish narrowing and gluing the wheels, and find a body for it.

I will be putting the electronics on the axles later on.

Looks greast so far! I just finished wiring up everything in mine tonight. I ran my motor backwards and also wired it backwards so it would run right. Have not really ran it yet so not sure how it will work. Will post up my findings real soon.

Mahalo spectra!

I glued up my mashers today, and hope to get more run time in tomorrow?
Of course I need to go body hunting also!

Look forward to hear how things work out for you?

Have gotten a little more crawling under my tires!hehe

Got the wheels narrowed and glued the tires on. Went with the star pattern cut for the foam inserts.

Still using the EPIC motor, but it crawls pretty good in the area I run in.

Also just bought a JR XS3 radio!

Was able to finally get some body mounts, so hope to have the C10 painted and mounted this week?

Have found that I need to put thicker oil in the rear shocks. The 25wt. I started with was o.k. but in some tougher spots there is some torque twist.

Any other P4 chassis owners out there?

O.K. got the body post I needed.

Painted the body the other night at 11pm!

Used Pactra Comp Orange backed with Daytona Yellow(to empty the can ) The Flames are XXX Main Razor Flames masked. Painted with Tamiya Translucent Purple and Blue backed with Pactra Indy Silver.

I just like the look of the Translucent colors backed with Silver!

NO I don't plan on lowering the body :-P

Kind of gives it a more marble type look than just a metallic color.

Well finally got it out on some real rocks! Went to the area they held the last comp here at Sand Island.

The truck really impressed me with how it performed! Considering I am running an Outlaw stock motor. But I am a total newbie when it comes to rc crawlin.

I learned a few things about my truck though. I need to change to a thicker oil in the rear shocks, as I am getting some mean torque twist in some areas. Also need a better esc as my mc230cr can't handle the dual servo setup! Wondering if switching to a Lathe motor with that since it should draw less amps than the Outlaw motor?

The Delrin P4 really does slide over anything! There was never a time when the chassis got stuck on anything!

It's looking really good xtant!! For even better stability, try mounting your esc and receiver on either the front or rear axle. It lowers the cg a little.

Thanx Tyler!

Yah I am going to move the esc and receiver to the axles eventually.
