Default New TLT-1s (maybe)

As someone who once owned several TLT-1s and greatly enjoyed them, I thought I'd pass on something I saw in an email today from shop.tinyrc.com
http://shop.tinyrc.com/product.php?p...cat=528&page=2

Looks like they still have some new boxed TLTs for sale.

If memory serves me correctly, the Max Climber was almost (or absolutely) identical to the Rock Buster, with the exception of the body. The Rock Buster, which is what most everyone bought, had the pickup body whereas the Max Climber had the SUV-type body on it. There may have been some smaller differences, but besides the body, the biggest difference was the price. For some reason, the Max Climber was WAY more expensive than the Rock Buster which is why most everyone bought the Rock Buster to create their crawlers.

Regardless, it is VERY good news to see that Tamiya may be re-releasing this kit. My 7+ year old TLT axles are holding up good, but being able to readily buy new ones sure would be nice.

The Max Climber axle shafts were a bit thicker and tougher than the Rock Buster if I remember right. That was the "big" difference.

And I think the cups were shallower, allowing slightly more turn angle if you ground away some plastic axle housing.

$150 is a bit much considering they were letting them go for $70 before they stopped production.

I bought 4 of 'em at 69 bucks back in the day.

Yeah....................150 for some stock axles and link mounts is a little high.

I think I'm gonna go narrow some Stampede wheels for old times sake.

I still drive my "old school" TLT regularly. It's stock like with center/front locked. I think it's probably one of the, if not the, funnest RC vehicle I've owned.

Nothing wrong with a little old school.

I still think that anyone who is just getting into crawling and wants to get serious should be required to build a crawler from a TLT kit. There are an innumerable amount of lessons contained in that orange box.
