Difference between TLT and Highlift Axles?

I am sure this is a noob question, but I can't seem to find anything on it.

What is the difference between a TLT Axle and a Highlift Axle? Are there any parts that cross over between them? I see parts fromRC4WD that are listed for TLT and Higlift axles.

IIRC, there are quite a few of the internal parts that will work with both, but the housings were different.

The ring and pinion's etc are interchangeable and so are the outer drive axles and knuckles.

the axle shafts themselves are 3mm longer on the hi lift axles.

So the HLs are 6 mm wider all together?

Yes, I have both in front of me. HLs are wider, cases are diff, axles are wider. Other than that the parts swap over

How close are they to the axial width.
