| how slow???
I am wondering if I should buy the GD600 with a bunch of other things from Towerhobbies. I have a 9 tooth pinion and lathe motor, going to be running it through a stock TXT tranny with stock TLT axles/gears, with 2.2 Imex Swamp Dawgs. I plan on doing mostly crawling but also some general wheeling with it. Is the GD600 going to make it creep too slow to use for anything besides crawling?

Yes, with a lathe motor, the GD600 will make the thing slow as molasses in the winter. Lathe motors don't need gear reductions.

Now if I put a 9T pinion I would have no wheel speed. | |

Badger, is this on a TLT with 2.2's or a something with larger tires, because the larger tires will create a higher over all gear ratio than smaller ones. I say, leave the GD600, get everything else, and see if you need to go lower. If you do, then pony up for a GD. |

the size of the tires will only affect how far the trucks travels per every one wheel rotation. the gear ratio is how many times that the motor spins to how many times the outer axle shafts spin... so for example: 40 motor turns = 1 wheel turn = 40:1 ratio smaller tires will effect the overall crawl speed... sorry, dont meab to sound like a ... well... you know. its the pain meds talkin 8O , stupid bumb shoulder |
