Associated Stealth tranny?

I'm just starting to build a rock crawler from my Tamiya TLT-1. Reading the forums it seems everyone is using a Stampede tranny. Is there a reason for this other than the ability to use the Traxxas slider axles easily? If I stick with dogbones is there a major reason why I couldn't use a Associated stealth trans I have already have to build the chassis around?

I used a old stealth in a 2.2 crawler. Worked great.

The diff needs to be tightened hard.

I wonder what the ratio difference between the Stealth and Stampede are?

The stealth is around 2.60 IIRC.

I put a stealth out of a b3 in my POS tc3 crawler type thing , and you will probaly need to jbweld the diff , I couldn't get mine to stay tight enough to not slip. I will probaly use a losi xxx tranny in my tlt, although my stock tlt tranny has held up fine with 3 jbwelded diffs and lots of crawling

Im using a old 6 gear associated tranny in "kickbacks 72" and its woring just fine.
