I would gear 2.2 wheels 40:1 or less with a 55t lathe or HHR brushless. Depends on how much wheelspeed you like.

if you have seen a XXRA it may be rock racing but has nothing to do with speed,

a little quickness yes, but speed is not an issue. I know some of the teams who compete in the rock racing and normal crawling events.......in the same rig

Yes, they do use the same rigs. But, it will evolve. The XRRA is still young.

I like the fact that in the 1:1 events there has been no 'proven' winning design yet. You got guys running tube framed V8 Jeeps and guys runnin' the four banger moon buggies and each vehicle can either win or lose.

I've thought about making a tubed TXT with brushless maybe 10-15mph speeds but still flexy and able to crawl decently when needed.

I like this build.... it looks like a different way to try and build something new, but I don't know how "far off" this truck will be built up from the current repeated chassis that have already been done several times...

It's like we're almost building up crawler/bashers. Something that can tackle rough terrain but still haul ***. I like the idea.

The same reason we have a scale section. For a LONG time they were combined. Now the "scale" vehicles (TLT for the most part) have their own section as not to clutter up the "crawler" section.

If Rock "Racing" rigs catch on big they will start to develop and evolve, they will differ from the "crawler" specific rigs and need their own section.

ahhh, i love this!!! i think rock racing will be an easier way to catch the new guys getting into this attention span. espcially all the racing guys. i was gonna order a revolver 33 combo for my 2.2 anyway, but now i definately looks like i need to do it tonite so i can get one before JRH runs out!!!

I was talking to JRH today, and w/ the gearing I am currently running w/ the Revolver (LOT'S of wheel speed ), he was saying that it would make a good rock racer. I have a production version of the XL4 coming soon, and almost enough parts to complete another rig, so I just might have a racer soon!

The ORCRC guys take crawling to a whole new level, their videos and comps are unmatched.
