Default Project "RAMROD"

Here is a Sneak Peak of whats to Come!

Alright I sold my Extreme Nylint and many other things to build me a TLT tuber painted like my 1:1 Jeep. Here are all the parts I have coming in the mail right now. Jeep HPI body, TLT-1 kit, 2.2 Red Rocks, 65T motor, Stealth tranny and many extra parts for that, Revo Shafts, Bearing, MOPED ESC, 2.2 HPI Spike wheels, Blue bird Servo's, TQ3, rod ends, Shocks and many other little parts. So far I have near 400 bucks in just parts. I'm going to try to paint the panels to match my paint job.

My TLT tuber will have a wheelbase of 12.3 to 13.5in. I haven't choose yet and 4 wheels steering. I'm 4 linking the front and 3 linking the rear. I don't think I will ever use it in a comp, but you never now. My Wheelbase will be chossen when my Red Rocks come in. I'll start posting more pic's when my parts come in the mail and things start getting put togother. A special thanks go out to Dezfan and Unimoger for they tech support and parts. I will have a parts list with numbers too. This should be a great build with alot of unique parts I will be making myself. It will also be a great how to guide to get different parts to work together right. I hope.

I won't need a template for it. I have paint my 1:1 Jeep twice now with the same paint job. Just got to do it a little smaller now.

I leaning towrads the larger wheelbase.

Well I got my axles put together last night. I didn't have any Loc-Tite. I have to tear it down later when my ball bearings come in. I just do everthing then. I did lock the gears up using hot glue.
I even put my shocks together. Which I'm not even using. I should be getting all my parts within the next 2 weeks. I should get all the important parts to get this build going this week.

why did you put them together if you knew you were going to be taking them apart right away?

I think you should get some J-Dawgs instead of the red rocks. That way you can cut them to look like the super swampers on your 1:1 Jeep. Just my 2 cents.

I put my axles together b/c I couldn't wait. I had to do something. The J-Dawgs look cool but they are just to small.

I would also get the TG-10 axels and use the wide spaced wheel hexes that come with the hpi wheels that you got. I would also use jato links in the front and revo in the rear (p3 poush rods on the bottom rear and tirods on the top.)

Well I got a little more done today. I made my templates for my top plate and bottom axle braces. On the top plate you can see where I'm mounting my top and lower links. These are just a mock up and everything will be one piece. I just got 15ft of brakeline, pipe cutter, and a few more tools and parts. Here is the basic design of my chassis. I know they are crappy pic's, but I did it at work and all I have is windows paint program.

I just got my 2.2 Red Rocks in and my 65T motor. Man these Red Rocks are real soft. I was playing around with my Stealth Tranny and my Stock TLT parts. I used my Spur from the TLT kit and the Pinion also from the TLT kit. With the 65T motor it may just be low enough. I have already ordered different Spur and pinion anyway, but I want to try this set up first.

They are soft, but I noticed a lot of bounce the way I cut the foams. I might have to get a softer foam for them.

Well here are my 2.2 Red Rocks. You can see how much ground clearance they will give. I haven't got my Wheels in yet.

Here is a pic showing the Stock TLT Spur gear and Pinion on the Stealth tranny. I don't know if it's low enough, but if it is. It may help out a few others and save a few bucks.

It seems to be a Spur 83T and the Pinion 24T
