Default Update on my TLT

I have asked and before, and before I pop, from being so eiger, but not knowing.

My ?'s.

1-Need a lower gear pinion? do I have metric or standard.
2-Once I get a lower gear pinion, do I have to replace the spur gear?
3-GD600? Where does it bolt, motor, or trans.

I still have the belt trans which I have seen from reading can cause a problem, what trans do I need to swap too.

Last sorry for the post again. I just havent gotten a clear answer, and there is no FAQ TLT section.

Plus I am leaving for a Hobby store in 45min, and the closest one is over a hour away.

Hi,

Go buy a 48 pitch spur and pinion. Tamiya's stock gears are not 48 pitch, they 'lamepitch'. 48 pitch will bolt right in.

GD600 bolts to the motor, which in turn bolts to the tranny. You do not need a GD600 in a stock TLT- you should just be able to gear real low with 48 pitch stuff. (Biggest spur, smallest pinion)

The most popular tranny to put in a TLT is the Stampede tranny. You dont need a GD600 in there either. These trucks are so light that they crawl fantastically without a gear reduction!

have fun,
ryan

Thanks for the reply's, it was a little late. Things I do know now.

Guy before me must have changed the spur and gear. I forgot to look wether it is std or metric. I will check though.

I Pu a 15T 48 pitch pinion gear, to match up to my 83T Spur, I played in the house with it, didnt seem to bad.

Guy at hobby store, said be carefull not to over load your speed control, I know I have a XRS, but dont know the size but I do have the box so I have to look at that.

I agree with Rd, thanks for your help. This being so small and lite, it crawls really nice, I still may want to go to a smaller pinion gear, but I am affraid to burn up a speed control...... Plus still need that wheel speed sometimes, to heat up the tires to bite.

I also PU stuff to make links, I just have to find the ends at a good price???? Anyone????

Plus my TLT is lengthened already to a TLT-10, found that out, with longer dog bones. I plan on adding another 1 or 2inches, to keep it from flipping over so easy.... I also will just cut the bog, sleave it with some Rod, and weld in the old dog bone ends.....

Last but not least, I may need to go to a buggy chassis, my poor plastic body went from show room new, to looking like a real rock buggy.

Thanks.....

Update, swaped to G-Hawgs, no foam, and made the difference.

Going to transfer some weight up front to control, the flipping back, by moving batteries, or

Adding Bee-Bees to the front tires.

Also looking for a emaxx tranny or pede tranny.
