My SW2 is Alive!!!! "RTIQL8R" **updated 8/19/06** 4 Attachment(s) It's finally almost done!! At least it works. I do have to change the upper links to eliminate some binding issues (arrow in last pic), and put a body on it, but so far me like!! Specs: SW2 chassis / TLT axles, JB locked, Hitec 645MG 55t Integy lathe Pede trans, JB locked, 87t Kimbrough, 12t pinion Pede shafts with metal yokes on both ends Moped ESC (thanks Dez) Delrin links (1/4" steering and uppers, 5/16" lowers) with Traxxas ends AE aluminum shocks, Losi whites/20 wt front, Losi red/30 wt rr, Losi silver/40 wt lr Pro-Line M2Ks on HPI black mesh wheels, narrowed to 42mm, Unimoger rock rings and 3/4 washers shoogooed to the inside for weight, cut foams, g-made wideners The battery placement is temporary until I can solder up some new packs to fit. Now, just have to put a body on it, change the upper links, and get it out of the basement and on the rocks!! |
Change your upper links so they mount to the six holes above where they are now. Where you have them now is not the ideal location, hitting the drive shaft I would guess, right? |

I run Maxx 2.5 shafts with stock TLT lowers as uppers, with a 50/50 link set-up. I run my links how zjguy721 has them in the pics. At full compression of the shock the driveshaft barely touches the upper link. If you run a 60/40 set-up and use 1/4" uppers in front, you'll have to move the links up on the chassis. Nice looking build BTW. |
5 Attachment(s) Got the body done, a few action shots on the landscaping rocks. Hey, it's a start! Still have to move the upper links, adjust the shocks (more upright, I need less droop) and maybe move the body up or trim more. |
sweet rig dude can i have it?:flipoff: |
Looks sweet, I like the low stance and the paint job on the body. |
I posted this on another thread too but I might as well aske here as well. Are there different grades of Delrin avaialble? I checked out a piece of 1/4" Delrin rod today at Tap Plastics and it is very bendy. |

Bender: Good to know. Unfortunately the local Tap Plastic did not have any 5/16" avaialble nly 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". I think the 3/8" would be a bit to large for a 2.2 application. I'll look around for the 5/16" stuff and give that a try. Thanks. |

1 Attachment(s) I'm running 1/4 inch bent links on the Grunt w/o issue. |
Got Rocks: Yeah, but I like to do things the hard way. If all else faisl I'll probably order up a set from him. Aren't his made specificaly for his chassis though? Dez: 1/4" is working for you? I might just have to go back and give it a try. For 8'@$3.95 I guess I really can't go wrong. |
I now know what my two LOOOOOOOOOOOONG sticks of black delrin 1/4 will get used for;-) Before that I was thinking way too springy for links. Clod will stay aluminum and the TLT build might get the black delrin. |
5 Attachment(s) Got done with some final mods after a few runs. Moved the upper links so no binding, got my 7-cell AA packs soldered up. I had some problems with them hitting the front of the chassis, so I went ahead and trimmed the front. I wasn't going to use those mounting points anyway. Lots of room now, flexes like a champ. After stripping the spur gear (actually my 4 year old, doesn't quite understand the concept of stop), put a new spur and slipper on. Figured since I had it apart anyway, trimmed some of the trans material, looks cleaner now. A little more body trim to eliminate rubbage, and I think I am in good shape!:) |
3 Attachment(s) And a few more...... |
Looks good! I like the Shaggon Waggon ;) |
