Thanks for the offer 701 Technuque, but I just got these in the mail today: So now I'm gonna get rid of my tlt's even though I just straightened them! Here's a side picture of the progress so far, I'm thinking about moving the body back a little to match up the wheelbase: And a picture of the bed progress so far: |

Got a few things done, starting to come along and look like a truck. Moved the body back to adjust the wheelbase: Got the axles mounted up real quick, made some crossbeams under the bed for mounting to the frame, and got a grill in the mail since I didn't feel like trying to make one yet: Put on a transmission plate, looks alright: Having fun, I have a feeling I'm gonna take a while on this and it'll never actually be finished because I know I'll want to continue adding and changing things. Not sure what I'm gonna do about a floor for the cab, and making wheel wells sounds a little daunting... I also eventually need to go to the store and get a bunch of tiny bolts that are the right size, right now I'm just using whatever is laying around! |

I think the axles looks really good, and they're pretty heavy, only thing I don't like is how the gears seem to have trouble meshing correctly when I tighten all the bolts down, they mesh decently when they are loosened but I don't like the idea of running them while loose! I'll have to mess around with shimming to see if I can solve that problem, kind of seems like they aren't made perfectly since the bad noise only happens on a small portion of the revolution. Oh well, they look good, I'll just have to beat the crap out of em and hope I can replace anything that breaks or wears out... They are Komodo axles. Also the wheel hubs are on there with a set screw into the axle and its kind of annoying to get them perfect. But they are optional so not really a big deal. I also like the width of them, as you can see in the photos i was running 1" wideners on the tlt's, which put the tires out there quite a bit, but they were just a bit too narrow without them. With the Komodo's the width is just right without any widening. And my upper link truss that I made for the tlt's fit on great with a little adjusting, along with the lower link/shock stays I made, the holes matched up perfectly. |

Made some progress on the project finally. Got the flatbed made up and painted, mounted it to the frame, frame is all put together and roughly painted for now, starting to get all set up for electronics so I can run it for once before I jump into more and more detail. Any comments/ideas? I'm thinking about tackling the interior next, paint the body, front bumper, front fender walls, exhaust, gas tank, lights, rust job, and so on. It's starting to get pretty damn heavy so I may need to rethink my power source... Last edited by chugdugdadug; 10-31-2012 at 02:26 PM. |

Made up the rest of my wheel wideners today, cut them out of a 1.9 wheel and made them fit the clod wheel pattern. We'll see how long the plastic can hold out. I threw my drivelines on last night and realized I had put my front axles on upside down, so when the motor goes, front and rear spin opposite of each other! I'm glad I figured it out before putting power to it, that could have been bad... Wheel adapters: Bouncing back and forth between my 1/10 scale truck project, and my 1:1 scale truck project: |

Very nice chug, love the seats. You don't see many bench seats and the stitching really helps the look. |

Thanks, I tried to make a bench seat out of foam but it didn't turn out too well so I used some wood. I could have put more time into it to make it look a little better but I felt like it was good enough. I moved this build to here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/gener...mud-truck.html |
