Default My first crawler...

Well after reading a few articles in the most recent magazines, to include the recent nationals article. I became very interested in crawling being that I am stationed in Germany and do not have any local tracks that I can race at (I am a 1/18th scale freak).

So I ordered a TLT from Hobby People for 69.99 and free shipping, as well as a Hitec 645MG (it was on sale as well). I then bid and won on a full set of Maxx shocks 30 bucks for all 8 w/ springs and adjuster clips (unassembled).

I have decided to keep it cheap at first which I realize will translate to expensive in the end. But this will let me slide it past the wife.. haha. I then found some RC10T 3 peice wheels which I will narrow using the tutorial I found here in the forums, making me a cheap $10 set of bead locks!

I plan on using my 1/18th scale batteries (Lipo's) to keep it light weight as well as my M8 radio gear.

Now I just have to decide on an ESC, suspension links and a chassis.

So if you have any ideas on these topics I would be grateful. Thanks.

ESC- if you are running brushed, go with a super rooster.
Links- depends on which chassis you get.. XRC makes some killer delrin links
Chassis- again XRC is a great chassis; SW2; TM3; VS; Bulu3 - search all these and pick out the one you like... they are all great setups.

Actually Pink, if I know me, I'll probably be making another in a few months and the deal on shocks just put me on step closer to completion... Guess I should do some searching about the chassis.

This is what I have ordered so far:

TLT-1 Kit
645MG Servo
TMaxx shocks
TM3 Chassis
Moab Tires
For now I am going to run narrowed RC10 3 piece wheels.
I plan on using an Associated Stealth Tranny I have from an old B2 Kit.
Quark 33A or Mamba 25 (I race 1/18th and own both already)
Esskay 400XT (950KV brushless motor)

Haven't decided between using my LiPo or NiMH yet...

The things I know I still have to buy are a body, Suspension Links, and Axle Link/servo mounts. I didn't like the link/servo mounts that normally come with the TM3 due to the super high mount point. I was hoping people could show me other options. I have seen others but do not know who they are made by. To be honest I like the ones made by reign but I think 30 bucks for 2 pieces of bent aluminum with sa 8 holes predrilled is a little excessive. So if you could post some links, photos, or ideas I would appreciate it.

Anyone use the MSD made TLT servo mounts?

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40071

I like the idea of not having to grind my brand new axles. Anyone have these and have feed back?

I like them, and they work well. the quality is good, and it mounted perfectly... also, I too like the fact I didn't have to grind anything...
