Default New TLT setup

The tuber didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, so I decided to go with a completly different set-up.

Some major differences:
Lay down tranny for low CG
6" wide chassis for the low tranny
New 4 link setup to triangulate the links without indexing them inside of the chassis
Lower gear ratio for more wheel speed
A Body
Heavy duty brazed steel roll bars and frame rails (not done)
2.2 tires with foams this time
New shock set up (not done)

Anyway,

The steel going from the chassis over the axles in this pic is to support the body, they won't be there whne its done.

I plan on finishing the chassis when I get my order from www.onlinemetals.com and I'll cut a new lower shaft for the narrowed tranny on my new lathe when I get the hang of it..

What do you think of these tires? I've been wanting to try out some step pins but these are the closest I could find for 2.2 wheels.

Dirt Paw

I emailed Proline asking them for the compounds and height.

Rbgerrish was running some 1/8 buggy tires and he said they hooked up really well. Truck is looking good. Its not fair you have a lathe. I'll send you a GD600 shaft to turn down... if I ever get one

Heh, I was thinking about buying a new lower shaft and turning it down to replace my booty fab old one. The problem is that there isn't enough material to hold it in the chuck. I'll find a way. In the mean time, I gotta make some shock mounts.

I'm still waiting on the email from pro-line. I'll probibly go with the tire with the softest compound.

If I remember right, the battery is going on the passenger side between the chassis and the gearbox.

I plan on making some steel frame rails. I have some .5x18x.1875 steel coming in the next few days.

That looks a lot like one of the drawings I thought of using for design. Where are you going to put the battery? I had though about next to the tranny or up in the frame over the front wheels. How smooth are the driveshafts with the tranny pushed off to the side?

The drivehshafts are smooth, no binding even at the extreme angle they are at. The batter will go either across the frame rails inbetween the tranny and front axle or running in the middle of the front rails. It depends on where I put the shocks.
