Is it nesessary to shim the pinion on tlt axles for a tighter fit? if so how tight should it be?

That depends on the thickness of the washer. IIRC, this is what I use (it's been a while since I've purchased a pack): http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXJJ88&P=K |

most likely, specially if you have weight added to your axles or wheels, i found out early the hard way, i killed two ring gears and pinions in a week with some heavy eritex wheels combined with a novak goat brushless combo ,that the stock gears needed to be shimmed to last a little longer, i ultimately got the hardened gears from vendors on here

yeah, there are some weights in the front wheels, im thinking i should ditch them cause this is the third time this has happend, of course shimming the pinion will probably help but probable taking the weight out of the wheels and making it it static weight instead of rolling weight would be good too. Do you happen to have any links for the hardened gears? all i can find is the locked spool hear but i kinds dont wanna go locked if i dont have to.. |

I use the steel pinion offered for a t-Rex 60 axle from Rc4WD

The steel pinion for the t-Rex 60 will mate up to the stock TLT ring gear?

| Re: pinion shim Yes, the t-Rex 60, D35, D40, and tamiya F-350 axle pinions are the same. Probably more but these I know for sure. The RC4WD spool(ring gear) are NOT compatiable though.
