Default How much stock parts are used an a capable crawler.

I have a TXT and am not using a lot of the bits and feel it is a bit of a waste.
What % of original kit parts are used in your crawlers guys?

You can make a stock TXT into a decent crawler with just a few mods and not a lot of cash. Check out this tech article - TXT Crawler

But I just noticed that you posted this in the TLT forum - not the TXT forum. Which are you referring to exactly?

If you meant the TLT, then thats a little different. Yeah, you can make a somewhat capable crawler out of a stock one, but you'll be better off if you use a different tranny and chassis. Honestly, most people use the axles and some of the hardware from the TLT kit, and that's about it. Some people use the shocks for a scale look, but most switch over to Maxx shocks.

Yes I was refering to a TLT.

I was wondering if I brought a TLT kit and wanted to turn it into a good crawler would I have to ditch most of the bits and buy specialised parts.

By the sound of it I would be left with a box of unused stock parts.

On the bright side it could keep my unused TXT parts box company,:-P and have twice the waste.:-(

I there no other cost affective way?

Well you could modify all the stock parts but it woudnt crawl as well as a special buil one but if you did it right it would be alot better than a stock one for not much money.

Well, on my crawler I use the axles and... that pretty much covers it. The TLT axles I purchased came with a stock chassis though!

Man I used the axles, bolts, spacers, lexan, nuts, mounts, and some others I can't think of. It's always more then you think.

run2jeepn is right-there is TONS of good stuff in the tlt kit, and besides, the kit is so cheap its like getting a bunch of stuff for free. The axles are worth more than the kit price IMO.
