Default Old school tlt build

I haven't built a crawler in along time. I picked up a chassis on eBay today.

The specs:
MIP CVD on front and rear axles
Fatrock axle C's
machined rear lock out
Novak brushless system

I'll post pics up as I get parts. Here is alittle tease pic of the chassis I'm using.

I got the SW2 Chassis yesterday in the mail. For being used it is in really great shape. I swapped out the stock 53mm cross members, with new was from Hot Racing. I started to make the 4 link suspension arms, I still have 2 more to make. Here are some pics.

Sweet! Always wanted one of those chassis, back in the day. Was running a Bolo chassis but wasn't comp'n so never pulled the trigger. I'll be watching to see where this goes.

I redid the links. I order some 1/4" thick wall aluminum tubing from CPE over a month ago. An that's what I used for the suspension links. I placed an order for the stampede tranny and some other stuff to get it to roller.

I got the stampede tranny in the mail yesterday and I have the weekend's off so I did some work on the SW2. I JB Welded the diff gear's in the stampede tranny. I still have to tweak the suspension some an the wheelbase is 12-1/4". When I made my order to get this truck going, I thought I had drive shafts but I don't.:banghead::banghead: so i have to wait 2 weeks till I can get some. Here are some pics.

Looks good. What are you planning to use for a body?

The body I'll be using is an HPI Dirt Force body off one of there stadium trucks. Here is a pic of the body resting on the truck, I also forgot to post the mandatory flex pic, too. The rims in the pic I don't think ill be using them on this truck.

I forgot to say something in my last post. Watch out for my next build. It will be Another Old School tlt build, but it will be using a SWX chassis.

Thank you and the next build will be cool. I like building my trucks from scratch then buying a kit. To me its more fun and makes you fill one with the truck as your rock crawling

my 2nd crawler was a SW2 with TLT axles. Kick myself in the butt for selling that thing. I gotta start checking Ebay for one of these to do an old school build

This brings back some great memories of a very similar build I did a few years ago. It was a sweet rig and I always think I should go back and build another one. Have fun with the build!

I am redoing the lower links this week. I'm going to make them out of 1/4" Derlin rod, that I'm waiting to get in the mail.

Updates?

I bought 2 TLT's back in '06ish one for me and one for my son who was born the same year. He's 7 now and we're looking to set him up a crawler.
I'm trying to decide if I want to build up the TLT or just buy him a Trail Stomper as we are liking the scale stuff more now.
Might get him the trail stomper and build me the 2nd TLT on a more scale chassis. My current TLT runs a mfm racing chassis and is running 2.2 maxx mashers from way back.
I've been out of the hobby for a bit. So there will be a TLT build soon. Keep up the work I look forward to seeing your updates.
