quick question for sicj, do you run into any engage/disengagment issues when your suspension cycles? since your hex is stationary and when your suspension moves it changes the angle of the driveline.

during articulation, no. Since I'm running a droop setup at full droop which the rear drops about a 1/2" then it won't engage. But it hasn't been a problem....yet.

SicJ - So I thought about your engagement problem of the splines that we were talking about at the Comp yesterday. The problem with both Jato and Stampede are that they are splined in such a way that you can only engage them 180 degrees apart (or is Jato 90?)

Anyway, the smart move was to go to the Jato. It hit me shortly after that what you can do for that shaft is just dremel off the larger sized splines (2 or 4 depending on if it is a 180 or 90 degree out). This will allow it to reengage whenever any splines line up. Your yoke ends may get out of sync, but that doesn't matter on our slow RPM crawlers. You also might not have all splines in contact with a face under load, but I think the splines that are in contact will be plenty strong enough to handle the load.

Look at it and let me know what you think if that resolves the problem.

Sam I think that would work great. Another thing I thought about was using the older driveshafts from the sledgehammer, if I remember right they have 4 splines and they are all the same size. This will only require 90 degrees for it to engage. Downside is that they might not be as strong.

great job, might just have to try it out myself, seeing as everyone seems to swear by dig.

Good stuff, how long does it take to engage the dig? Like 20 seconds..., less? Thanks.

Hey, how powerfull of a servo do you need to do this? I got an extra laying around but it isn't strong at all. It was an old throttle servo off of my Savage X if you are familiar with it.

The servo doesn't need to be really strong, it's really only moving the slider uop and down the shaft with a little stress as it re-engages 4WD.

I love that brake, I'm gonna have to add that to mine!

I Have A Dig Set-up Just About Like Yours.my Servo Is Mounted On My Axle.i Use The Jato Drivelines.don't Tapper The End Of Your Driveline Leave It Square, mine Worked Better Square.tapper The Socket Alittle And The Nut.i've Been Useing Mine Since The 2.2 Midwest Challege With No Prob.tappering The Socket And Nut Lets Me Engage When My Suspension Is Changing.it Works Most Of Time.i'm Playing With The Thought Of A Coned Rubber On The Drive Line Instead Of A Nut.

I've made my own rendition of dig, but had this same problem of re enaging 4WD because the splines were uneven. I'm using maxx shafts BTW. so to allude the problem, you grind the larger splines so that there even with the smaller ones? it only engages like you stated at 180* but would like it to engage at any point of a 90* turn of the shaft.
