So, I have decided I am sick of clods. Paying twice as much for motors, getting half the runtime, using multiple adapters, messing about with stalling and still ending up with a big, heavy rig just doesn't appeal to me. So, now I have submitted myself to TLT's, and successfully made every clod owner hate me, back to business... Why do you guys use the 'pede tranny? Couldn't you just use any small transmission? How about this? It's from a Kyosho Tracker. Cheers 8-) |

People do use other trannys, most any will work. Stampedes are the standard because every single rc hobby shop stocks parts for them. They are every where, and they already take the stampede drive shafts. They are not the best tranny though with a plastic motor mount and they are on the larger side. But they get the job done.

I would have thought it was all down to gear ratios. If it's got a similar ratio to the Pede, and can be locked easily enough I see no reason why it couldn't be used. |

Pede trannies are available from a few Vendors here on RCC, another reason they are popular. As Etype R mentioned, hobbies shops usually have all the replacement parts you need in stock. If you buy an aftermarket crawler chassis', usually you need the tranny it was designed around too.

I'm just giving you crap too. Back on subject................If you have a tranny laying around that can be locked I say go for it, especially if you're making the chassis yourself.

Yuh, just to clear that up, the only things I'll be buying are wheels, tyres, axles, and probably shocks, 'cause I already have a tranny, materials for a chassis, radio gear, and electronics. Cheers 8-) |

If the chassis was build around a Pede you can still us it for smaller trannies like the stealth. I have yet to see a SW2 but figured you could put something smaller in it. I thought if he Vertical Smile could take any tranny then the SW2 could as well. Same with other Venors Chassis'
