Reefer, the All-Ts are fine on this rig. At a bit over 9lbs, Ralph is a pig. These tires work better on a heavier rig.

I ran them before, liked'm enough to go back with'm. They're all I've ever used on this rig. They work well enough to keep me happy when I'm driving. The high center of gravity (frame is heavy) knocks Ralph out of competition crawling, so it's not like the tires are going to hinder my ability to go out and have fun.

Sheldon, not sure if you noticed, but I put some fuel tubing inside the shocks on the shock shaft to lower the frame. You and Peej both said he'd look better with the suspension sucked down a bit...the suspension needed taming anyway.

Are the shocks stock Savage units? Looks like plastic bodies , or maybe it's the alcohol... You've got a hell of a rig in Ralph, anytime someone that builds as many new rigs as you do, rebuilds an old one you know it's right! If there's ever a second rebuild, you could use the Monster energy drink logo, and do black and green. Do you run wideners on your rig, don't imagine you'd need to with the All-Ts, just curious.

Damn, how'd I miss the second pic? That one is sweet! No, I didn't notice the shocks, kinda fixated on the paint. It does look good. I can't wait to get started on mine.

The shocks are stock Savage shocks, plastic bodies and all. The shock shafts were (and still are) bent. Didn't have replacements at the LHS so I just put fuel tubing inside the shocks (on the shock shaft) to limit travel, as well as a bit of tubing outside the shock body on the shaft to limit compression. I'll drive it like this until the new shafts arrive. That way I'll see if I like the suspension travel as it is now.

I can't take credit for the frame, rckjeep built Ralph a couple of years ago. I just snapped him up when Dave was ready to get rid of him.

I do run wideners, of sorts. I use the Blackfoot wheel axles (fronts trimmed for more steering throw). These extend the track width a 1/2" or so (not sure exactly how much). I needed a spacer to fit between the bearing and drive pin so I just cut a short length of carbon tube to fill the gap. Cheap, easy, and quick. (Works too ) I needed wideners 'cause with a 14" WB and a relatively high center of gravity I needed a bit of width to help stablize the rig...and it just looks better with the tires pushed out.

You can see the wideners here: Rebuilding Ralph

DTP, you were probably posting smilies when I put up the 2nd pic. The shocks are the same old shocks that have been on Ralph since I got him. Like the rest of the truck, they were due for a rebuild. Even the ball ends were worn out, the nylocks no longer locked, and a large part of the screws holding the suspension together were bent.

Twisted, that's a hood from a HPI Rubicon. The rear section was used for testing color mixes for the airbrush. The grille/winch is going in the parts bin.

Hey Jason, when I ran BF stubs, I used the stock TLT bushings. It comes w/two different sizes, 5X10 & a smaller one. One of each fit perfectly inside the pin. Might be a little more durable than the carbon tube......

Doubting the durability of a part on Ralph? Say it ain't so!

Yeah, I'd read about the bushings being used, the carbon tube was just closer when I needed it.

Either will work. I just had to make mine 'cause I, um...tossed those bushings.

No, not doubting. Just another option for you.

I knew there was a reason for it.

I started to go with the Juiced thing...that way I could have the orange diamond plate lookin' panels.

DTP, I've never thought to keep the stock bushings. :-(

Oh well.

(Was being sarcastic about the whole doubting thing, BTW )

Finally go this rig wrapped up today.

Jeremy snapped a shot of me wrenching on the steering...notice how the tires aren't glued. (and yes, I was drinking Full Throttle instead of Rockstar )

I went to take pictures of the guys that were crawling, look up and Jeremy is working on putting the body panels on Ralph.

Couple of shots on the rocks

Was the first time for most of the Florida guys to see (and hear/feel) Ralph in action. After the first roll everyone freaked out 'cause they heard the hit and felt the impact in the ground around them. "Daaaammnnnn!" was the collective response.
