This news is disterbing...

edit: it also makes it hard to be inovative when restricted..

Same ideals the moon buggy was based on.. isn't it? to think out side the box..

That's why it's called being "innovative".

IMO it wouldn't have been legal by the 2006 rules either because of this:

I don't see a full tube chassis there, I see a very curvy pretty lower half thing- basically a frame.

Kamikaze's rig on the other hand I would see as legal, it's got a cab, a hood, and I think I can safely assume that it ressembles a 1:1, or atleast what a 1:1 could possibly look like.

If it was me, I would strip the coating and put a roof on it, then IMO it would be perfectly legal.

Discribe a full tube chassis to me.

It has a roof, base, front and rear. appears to be a full tube chassis to me.

just cutup a bug body and slap it on for comps, make sure you dont paint it; show off that sexy frame.. i mean chassis... i mean FULL TUBE CHASSIS

if it were me, I would mount the body upside down; make a little "statment" ( )

Appears to be a double cheese burger with fries to me.

Where's the roof? How would a driver see for the suspension and drive train? I've seen a few designs that have pushed what would be an acceptable tuber design, but I think this one went overboard.

I'm going to be making some panels for the top and roof area so they can be zip tied for comps.

I don't think the rules say anything about having ultra high Wheel wells.

I've got some ideas for pannels too Double J. Also, could you get a flex shot of it?

Here it is what it will look like running. Well minus the ESC, RX and drive shafts (didn't put em on yet).

Wow,

Totally killer looking,
but a note on the rule change,
WTF!!!! That is about dumb as ROAR banning LIpos for the 2007 season, some people try to push the hobby along and get these kinds of limitations shoved in their face.

But no more ranting,
cant wait to see pics of it on the rocks,

Nate

I am thorougly amazed at how this build came out. Even by the initial drawings i knew it was going to be an amazing rig. The design alone is amazing, not to mention the very creative powder coating which just set this rig off that much more. My only quark, its longer than expected. Maybe a little bit too long in my opinion. But this thing is amazing none the less.

Wow, that thing is wicked I would have never thought it would turn out like that. See I think it should be able to run becuase it is does seem possible to run a 1:1 with a similar set-up. I guess people are of afraid of new and innovated stuff.

Thanks for the completments.

It is a little longer than origonally designed but if the stingers get in the way they can be cut off without having any affect on the rest of the rig. Only testing will tell at this point.

I completely agree, if someone like yourself, has put this much time into design and the build, to make it look extremely interesting as it is...I say go for it. But if you must, just slap some panels on, maybe a few stickers and call it a day.

This is why I think the 'tubers' are so interesting, you can only do so much with and Jeep, FJ, or Bronco body. Now this, this is original...at least from what Ive seen.

Great work...

After putting thought into it I decided that if it needs a change I'll do whats in my power to change it.

It may not be legal, but it will be run. I've also got a VS on the way from Double J, that will defentally be legal, and will probably be my main runner.

Meanwile, I'll wait for the final parts, and keep my fingers crossed that it will fall within the guidelines that have been put up by the Rules Committee.

Thanks to all who support it, and to those who don't. It gives other chassis makers better ideas what people look for and want.

Finished the mock up and added the drive shafts. The front has bit of a bad angle but it'll work. Moved the upper links to the inside and it now has more flex cause they don't bind.
I'll get pics later, before I ship it.
