Default trail jeep build-up, pics

radio shack jeep for 10 bucks.
tlt rearends, locked
pede tranny, sliders
lathe motor
on custom 5/16 steel frame

frame buildup

frame completed, everything installed, painted flat black.

body on shots, will do body work and paint later this week or next weekend. that is steve, crocodile hunter at the wheel.

it's dark and raining outside, so flex shots are on table.
have to get stiffer springs and heavier shock oil, this thing weighs 8lbs.

let me know what you guys think!

ya same here... mabey its just the paint or the huge spare wheel on the back...

pretty dang sweet tho...im digin the black look underneath..

heavier springs.... it looks pretty cool with all that droop... but thoes tlt shocks are pretty soft and torque twist could be a prob...

You should try to find a cherokee body for the truck instead of that weak KJ body with an XJ body on it, it would look PIMP!!! but very nice build and I really like the frame

thanks for the coments. i only used this body becouse it was available and cheep. i think it is based on the concept jeep they preveiwed a few years back. i thought it would look better with some paint and detailing. i think that spare is a little to big too. it is slightly taller than the swamps, but narrower. i will see how a stock tlt tire will look on it. an xj body would look awesome, but have never seen one. oh, it has an 11 1/4" WB. john

Hey jj650 very nice build. Love the frame. The body could use some detail work but other than that great job.

nice frame, but i think you're going to have some issues with your driveshafts binding. those angles are pretty steep. drop the tranny half an inch if you can.

Is the tire rubbing the shock in that last pic?

i can't lower the tranny any more without major chassis change. the angles are steep at full droop, but at ride height it is ok. i'm trying to locate some stiffer springs, it has bad chassis role right now. yes, at full stuff the tire does rub the shock. i have some bugs to work out, but for only having a few hours in it i'll get them worked out.

That's the Jeep Icon. A concept Jeep from '97 I believe. I saw it in my latest issue of JP Magazine. I saw it in the article "Worst Concept Jeeps Ever". No Joke. But I don't think it looks bad. I think a smaller spare and some paint and it's gonna look perfect. Lookin' good...
