Project Immolator -- Update 1/26 Here' my scale trail rig so far... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...r/crawler1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...r/crawler2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...r/crawler3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...r/crawler4.jpg when it's finished I'll take more detailed pics but so far... Custom stuff for axles -alum servo mount -alum blocks to convert to coil suspension -alum over the servo top link mounts -custom solid links with rear lockout Tranny -locked -alum idler -Made a alum plate to cover the gear/mounting point, and made a mounting point for the other side of the tranny with some L-stock alum. still have a lot more to do....links, bottom link/shock mounts for axles, mount all the ESC, receiver, tranny, and batts, and maybe a winch. it's a rough mock-up but you get a good idea of what it will look like later |
looks pretty good to me, how long do think it will be till youre gonna finish? |
thats sick dude, cant wait till its done |
thanks, it should be done within 1-2 weeks |
--1/26 UPDATE-- Got the side plates and tranny mounted today http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...r/chassis1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...annymount2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...annymount1.jpg |
Those wheels are really familiar, what are they? |
Looking good man :) |
the wheels are RPM Torkers... I narrowed them on the inside bead. This thing is getting heavy already  but it's better having it overbuilt. |
very cool looking, may i ask where you got the aluminum??? Thanks -Dan |
all the alum. was bought at onlinemetals.com except for the L-angle channel, that was bought from mcmaster.com |
Looks good. :) Is it a pede tranny, isn't it? |
-- 1/29 Update -- 4 link finished and front suspension mounted. Still need to hang the rear springs and mount all the shocks and the suspension will be done. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/4link1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/4link2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/4link3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/4link4.jpg |
some articulation shots... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/artic1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/artic4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/artic2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/artic3.jpg the rear springs are zip-tied in these shots and the shocks aren't mounted, but I'm expecting the same amount of flex with everything mounted. |
-UPDATE- Well got it done and how I think I'll leave it for the time being.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/crawl1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/crawl2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/crawl3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/crawl4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/crawl5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ler/crawl6.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...crawlsavy1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...crawlsavy2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...crawlsavy3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...crawlsavy4.jpg I changed the batt. to where it is int the pics, I originally had them mounted at the side plates as a saddle pack and it just made the chassis too wide and it really didn't climb to well (compared to what I see in the Oregon dudes vids)....now with the batt. up front it climbs WAAAY better, much more traction. Only thing I think I'll change is how the side plates widen near the top, when desining the chassis I figured the links would mout up there, well it didn't turn out that was (links would be too short) so I'll trim those off. All I need to do is disassemble, probably paint all the alum. flat black, paint up my Chevy body and make a 2nd pack and it's all good. so fun to see it start out as jack shit and turn into something. RC Electric and crawling are 2 completly new things to me and learing how everything works was awesome and to see it all work together is even better. |
Seems to pčerform well :) what body will be added? |
I'll be running a new Parma Clody body, like the one in the first post when I did the mockup |
Have you had any driveline issues? I mad a double female shaft for my buggy because they are about as long or longer than yours. |
no, no problems. Those are stock pede sliders, there is about a 3/4" - 1" in the male shaft. |
