Default Unibody Crawler

I started to make a chassis about an hour ago. I'm building it as I have 9 days before a comp to finish. It's not to terribly thought out or well desinged I am rushing it in order to get it done.

That turned out cooler than I would have thought.
Is it heavy?
What type of batteries are you going to use? (custom pack?)

Looks good, but aren't the diamonds going to get hung up on rocks? Maybe sand them down some so they have a smoother transition maybe?

actually the diamonds (not havind sharp edges) should help it slide better by breaking up the surface

More pics.
The dimond is just what I had laying around and it dose not look to bad either.
It is pretty light too. Only 1.2 oz heavier than two hilift drive shafts. I don't know what an SW2 weighs but to me that's not bad since there is so much aluminum here.
If this turns out ok I will make a cleaner version that has more apeal to it.

Put some braces in and painted some panels.
It actually doesn't look half bad.

That's all for tonight. In the morning I will do the 4 link.

Looks sort of like a elcamino. It's something different which always adds to the cool factor. I like it

Thats a pretty cool idea. I like it.

I agree on the Ranchero,it's not long enough to be a El Camino. The first unibody Ranchero crawler I'd be interested in seeing how it works out.

The rear suspension is done. I need to re make the rear deck panal. To make it comp legal it has to 12.5" I'm at 12". Just going to make it longer with a little nascar wing.
It's a 60/40 split with carbon fiber links, traxxas ball ends. Pede tranny TLT axles. bla bla bla
Mnster could you post a pic of your dig. I want to look at something.

All that's left are drive shafts, rx, and esc.
It's light right now it is in at 3lbs10oz. I'm going to need a lot of weight in the wheels.
The rims and tires will be changed before the comp. Mashers dominate around here.

Sure

Here is the how to.
http://rcrockgear.com/bbs/viewtopic....710a79ccc0392c

Don't use a micro servo with plastic gears. Mine stripped at that last event I just found out. A hobbico cs-12 with metal gears just came in the mail today. Instead of that brass piece in that how to, I used a stampede upper camber link.

I'm going to play devils advocate but you might want to check with the rules people cause there probably going to make you put a body on that, cause I think it will be considered a tvp, since only tube chassis in the rules can run with no body. I like it but you know how creativity is stiffled around here.

I don't think I will have a problem as it meets the lexan body rules and the tuber rules. It's also not a TVP. I would be a BPC Bent Plate Chassis.
If it doesn't someone higher up PLEASE speak up now.

Thansk for the pics Ben.
