P.S. Awsome work on the portals!
So your saying throwing 2 or 3 grand at a dana 30/35 combo is better than building a pair of 60's for that or less?

And the portals look good.

The portals do fit within the wheels just mine have no off set but the ones im getting will and once they have been tested ill cover them up.

You guys are lucky with the choice of axles for 1:1, most things over here are like rocking horse s**t. but there are some out there just need to drop on some. One day maybe

Who said it was better? Where did this come from? What does that have to do with anything? WTF are you talking about?

OK, OK, the whole "Jeeps SUCK A$$" thing could go on forever, it's a heep thing and I don't get it. I'm MUCH more interested in the portal box set up in this thead

Do U have a part number for the gearbox? I think these would be DA BOMB on my crawler

That's what I thought as well, till I went out and put my GD600 up next to my axle I'm not sure U could cut down a GD600 THAT much

heres the link

http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-10a.html#GearBox they are the acc347 gearbox im using.

I asked maxx products the pitch of the teeth and there reply was, "That information is not avalible as we dont get asked often" so a great lot of help. Looks like ill try and drill some more pinions out on a lathe hopefully it will work. didnt really want to turn the stub axles down as i can switch between portals and normal set up easily then, may have to though if the pinions wont drill out that far.

2.3mm stub axles though do you think they would take any sort of abuse. Wish i could find the pitch of the teeth and somewhere who makes pinions for 4 mm shafts, preferably in the uk but not necessarily

Dont ask for much do i

planning on using those wheels to bring the track width back to something sensible. The boxes fit nicely inside plastic wheels. But at a guess i recon alloy wheels might be thicker, so may cause problems.

Maximizers? Pretty big rims for TLT axles!

Damn dude...calm down. I was just fawkin with you. Your post made it sound like dumping a bunch of cash into 30/35's was good. And I'm sure most of us couldn't afford 1:1 portals either. Hell, I had to sell my 1:1 rig just to keep up with the bills. Sorry.

Oh are they not 2.2 a friend of mine has them so have not seen them yet. maybe not then if they that big i was planning on sticking to 2.2

In theory the internals of the axles should be able to cope better with portals as it reduces the stress though but dont think its an option for me.
