these are awefully cheap, would they be good for a crawler or am I missing somehting?

Depending on how stiff the springs are they should be ok for a crawler. As always I would suggest a set of Maxx shcoks/springs- should be able to find them for about the same price on da'Bay.

They look a little short for an axle-mount set up, but they could still be link-mounted...
