| A little Revolution? Clod-like TLT Stick-crawler
Hi! Yeah you´ve read wright: A "real" stick with TLT-axles... Click pic 4 gallery! It´s an old idea of mine and now I´m building it. It´s looking "rugged" but it has to be in that way - I´ve got no CNC or something like that, only a drilling machine and a set of tools... Tomorrow I´ll hopefully can finish the second axle. Then there are only the links, body- and shock-mounts and some wireing left for finish this little project! I´m looking forward the first drive... Technical stuff: Wheelbase aprox. something about 33cm (13 inch). The weight is projected to aprox. 2900g (4,41lb) with everything included. Wheels are gonna be the Proline Masher 2000... I´ll keep you updated... Manuel |

Neat idea. But it has less ground clearance already without the links on it.

Hi folks! Worked a little bit before Christmas. Finally here are the pics: Click pic 4 gallery! Looks different from what I had planned at the beginning but still interesting. The geared motors are fantastic, they got tons of power. Great control at the throttle and massiv holding power at stops in the hill. The first driveout in free nature ist still standing out - and it´s currently freezing cold out there... :-( Manuel PS: Anyone got tips for the problem in picture 17? |

Clean fab work, but to bulky IMO. the GC seems to be really hinderd with the motor setup. And it seems like the edges of rocks good get lodged in between the motor's. seem's like you could you mount the motor's up by the top rail and clock the axles so the drive shafts are arn't at a extreme angle, you would clear up some space in between the axles and get more GC. Just my .2 cent's As far as pic 17 » Fat-Rock « Axle-Cs this should solve it. Last edited by bigred; 12-28-2006 at 03:18 PM. |

Nice looking. But the motor's mounted that way will get you hung up real good. I'd try to mount the motors ont he axlse or off the stick somehow to get them out of the way of the rocks. Maybe a combo of gears going straight down to the output on the axles. Or even the motors mounted off the belly of the stick at least the shafts will slide on the rocks. |

There have been a few builds of max based stick rigs that were similar to this. They used 'pede trannys for each axle if I recall correctly. Cloak and Johnrobholmes, if I recall correctly. |

Why not just mount the motor directly to each axle with the gear reduction turning an intermediate shaft and gear setup to then turn the pinion. The motor could sit to one side of the pumpkin, and be tucked up out of harms way, the only snag would be steering servos...

Once the clocking axle Cs come out, you can mount the motors vertically on top of the axle. I think that will start a revolution. Unless the clocking Cs have come out already.
