| Front Dig Servo question I recently installed a front dig setup on my crawler (Miniwheeler style) and I keep burning up the micro servo's (three so far). The servo I'm using is a Spektrum micro that comes with the DX6. I did change the design a little on the way the servo moves the coupler on the driveshaft and I'm wondering if that is why they are burning up? I have a small ball-end on the driveshaft and clevis mount on the servo arm side and 4/40 rod in between. I'm thinking that with their being no slop (play) in the linkage that if the drive shaft does not engage all the way that the servo is setting there trying to pull the coupler back into the “at rest” possession and ends up burning up the servo. So the question is, do you think a higher torque servo would fix the overheating issue or do I need to build in some kind of give into the linkage so if the driveshaft coupler does not side in right away the servo does not over heat. I was looking at the Hitec 85mg. Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks, DE |

I'm running a NiMH 4200 and the Novak crawler system has a BEC of 6.o volts and 3 amps. Right now I'm running two Airtronincs 94359z's and the Spektrum micro servo and that is it. BTW, which suggestion are you referring to? The play sugg. or the higher torque sugg? Thanks Last edited by onebadtj; 12-11-2006 at 03:33 PM. |

...Try running a spring tensioner setup. Like on an EMaxx shift linkage or nitro throttle linkage setup. Just a thought.

I think your problem is that the spektrum servo is an aircraft servo and don't like anything over 4.8 volts.

Go to a Hobbico cs12mg when you plan to upgrade. Mine has been working great thus far. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLN97&P=7 |

Thanks for the ideas and I'm going to order a better servo and do some type of spring on the linkage as well just in case it does bind. Thanks, DE |

| I still need to replace the servp and find the spring linkage you guys were talking about. I think that will solve my issues. DE Last edited by onebadtj; 12-15-2006 at 06:38 PM. |
