| VW Bug Full Custom Tubed
I got a wild hair and decided not to buy a Bug body, instead I cut up about 20 feet of brakeline. Here's the result [/IMG] My original idea was to do a two-cylinder horizontally opposed four-cycle engine in the back connected to a gear box, then a x-case to supply the power, but I don't think the TLT axles would hold up so... Here's the projected Spec: TLT Axles, locked rear, open front for backyard-bashing, Custom cutting board trans with alloy gears, Maxx shafts, Stainless links, RPM blue rod ends, bent lowers, triangulated uppers, Pro-line Slingshots front and rear on shiny chrome HPI Spike wheels, Blue anodized hardware, nuts and bolts, Blue TC3 shocks mounted on the upper links, Baja style lights mounted on the front hoop, and roof cage when it's built, Thinking brushless just for the speed side of things, not really a crawler, Axle mounted MG645s, Y-ed together for sh!tz & giggles, Blue body panels, lexan or maybe aluminum |

The wheelbase will end up around 12 inches, but like the Bug bodies it can be stretched pretty far outside the fenders. I had one hell of a time keeping everything square on this one, it's a b!tch to keep the curves lined up and even and harder to measure to check each bit of progress. The rear fenders weren't too bad, a bit tight on the kickup section, but I made it work with the vice. It will eventually have rear side windows and a cage structure with lightbar and engine scoop sticking out the top, but for now I've run out of tube. Thanks for the comments everyone, keep them coming.

It's going to have body panels, just have to find some flat lexan or maybe aluminum if I'm feeling up to filing them all. It will basically be skinned from end to end, with only the windows left open. I've got a few more unique tuber ideas up my sleeve, can't stand having the same as someone else. Don't get me wrong, I've got two Jeeps and an FJ, just like to be different. May wind up selling this one to finance my next round of tube fab. Try to get some more pics soon.
