How does mounting the body like that work? When one axle flexes, isn't it going to twist the body? Body looks fine to me, all thats missing is the fenders like you said.

Thats the point,, mounted in the center like that it will allow the tortion to twist and the body also. If it was mounted with 4 points the tortion would be extremly limited.

I mounted mine with 2 points up front and 1 in the rear, left the rear fenders intact and they make contact with the mounting plate which helps limit the articulation.

I can control the flex pivot point by moving the tranny plate forward or back.

Since we're slightly off-topic anyway, has the USRCCA sanctioning body figured out how they will figure out if a body meets the 70% rule? I would assume that the best method would be by weight. Since there are a lot of popular bodies out there, a base weight could be established for each body. Then, a competitor's body could be weighed and a percentage calculated. So, say the stock HPI body weighs 12oz (have no idea on actual weight), and a competitor's body weighs in at 7.5oz, then his body is illegal (70% of 12oz is 8.4oz). I would think that this method, while not exact, would be moreso than someone just looking at the body and saying, "Yup, looks like 70% to me."

Back on topic, I'm looking forward to seeing how your BMVII compares to mine, performance-wise. There are some things that I see between our rigs that are quite different. I'm curious whether those differences are negligible or significant.

The trick around that would be to cut a little extra off the body to get the clearence you want and then put 8 coats of paint to add some weight to it.

Off topic: There will be minimum size requirements and the 70% is up to the judge in charge of tech inspections. Weight isn't going to cut it due to people can cheat the system too easily. 3" tall, 12.5 inches long and full width at the cab is the measurements if I recall correctly. The 70% is subjective, but I don't think it's that hard to agree on.

On Topic: Seeing the 2 BMs go up against each other with you 2 being skilled drivers will be good. Next comp will be cool to watch.

Looks like the torsion chassis are starting to take over at our comps.

2 BM+VII's, Eric's home brew torsion TLT, R2J Pimp cane, my Pimp cane.

Add that to Unholys Stick Clod and Travis's Stick TLT!

The TVP's are doomed!

That's one of the reasons why I've been thinking about unloading my P4 chassis and going all torsion-style with my rigs. The P4 was a very capable rig...for a 4-link shocked crawler. Driving the BMVII and then driving the P4 is a night-and-day difference. The P4 seems a LOT overweight compared to the BMVII. Strangely, there really isn't that much difference in actual weight between the two. The P4 just seems more like driving an elephant and the BMVII seems like driving a billy goat!
