My tlt build Chassic pics UPDATE ON 3rd page 1-18-07 Ive said I would make a build thread last week and will today Since i got some stuff in the mail I have on the truck Traxxas links Moab 2.2 tires Hpi wheels 45t lathe motor traxxas 2055 servo (front hitec hs-322hd servo (rear Unimoger link mounts traxxas tq rx and tx Y connector 4 tmaxx shocks and A metal body pinned on general lee body (temp body i was bored on saturday ok) The body is just for now i was bored as ever when I did it Tommorrow i am going to make the driveshafts for until I send double J the money for my Vertical smile chassis. The servos Are temp also I need to order the moped esc still. Also I am aware that it is top heavy because of the body and needs to be lowered but i'm doing that tommorrow http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl1.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl2.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl3.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl4.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl5.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl6.jpg Link to my tlt gallery http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r276/Tlt_Gallery/ |
Good start, check out a AI runner esc (18+ turns, run a 55t lathe, and one 645 servo) the esc is waterproof also, and only 34.99 from tower (five more than a moped but waterproof) |
looks like you have a good start Im using the stock uncut chassis and if you move your shock mounts towards the center two holes you will get a lot more flex with my little softer springs i can get 90 degrees of flex and you also need to move your tie rod to the top (Gives more clearance) oh yeh im diggin the sheets "thumbsup" |
Thanks for the comments a couple minutes after i posted this I lowered it the flex sucked then I moved them into the inner mounts and it gets like 85o flex Crap looks like I need to get some axel wideners to my need list stuff rubs now Edit heres a pic i just took http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl7.jpg |
I noticed that you triangulated the upper linkes, with the point of the triangle near the servo region... does it make a difference whether you triangulate it there or triangulate it inside the chassis?? just wondering thanks -james |
does it make a difference whether you triangulate it there or triangulate it inside the chassis?? yep. |
Yeah it did It got my COG lower and alot more flex I just took the body posts off and wheels and took some pics THis chassis isnt staying for long Im ordering a Vertical smile chassis later this week Here are more pics http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl8.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...allery/gl9.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...llery/gl10.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...llery/gl11.jpg Also In a little while im going to acehardware to get some tubing to make driveshafts for until i get another pede tranny |
where did you get the general lee body from? |
Walmart Its off a 1/18 scale diecast car I drilled the holes in the body Its just for now I wount be using it because it makes it top heavy |
IMO and being a complete newb I would change the springs to softer ones or get some longer shocks that are ajustable like mine i think this will get you more articulation could you post a pic of each axle flexing separatly ? ? ? thanks for following my build i will keep posted on yours |
Yeah I will after I finish locking my pede tranny I just got. i am going to order the shocks you got What mm are they and who did you buy them from? I mouned a pede tranny I didnt cout out the other chassis plate yet. here it is sofar http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture008.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture009.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...Picture010.jpg |

i got an xl1 traxxas esc for now? |
Ordering my chassis tommorrow! might pick up a couple things from the hobby shop tommorrow question I want wideners but what ones should I get I dont want alot wider but i want it somewhat wider and should I go with fat rock c's or wideners first? |
the axle C's are kick a** and that is a part that takes a pretty good beating if you don't mind some cutting and grinding go for them you can't beat the price and they really toughen up a weak spot on the axle.IMO Blackfoot axles are the cheapest way to get a little wider without completely screwing your steering and just a note about lrp AI runner esc's they have a 3 second reverse delay i love mine but it takes some getting used to... axle c pic... http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...umb_axleC4.jpg |

well the wideners are pretty much a must to mount 2.2 tires so I'd go with them.. |

the gmade wideners from the crawler store are nice I personally don't like barrel nuts (I tend to break them..lol) www.thecrawlerstore.com |

so it will be like this chassis, gmade wideners, axle c's, alumn nuckles, Bearings, Alumn shocks |
that sounds about right but you might want to think about getting the bearings and the axle c's around the same time cause you'll have to have the axles apart ot mount the c's so that would be a good time to put the bearings in and button everything up |

good choice bro i already have the bearings in they make a huge difference and i also ordered the aluminum knuckles from Jp Custom Rc's the fat rock axle c's from fatrock I'm just watinng on the first two to come in together with the esc and tranny my axiom motor already is in the stampede sliders are in just waiting on BBY for the steel yokes and the most awsome thing was the RC4WD bead lock rims with the fat red ring these are great keep up the good work looks like we will finish around the same time I'm still saving up for the body and paint job |

are they worth 27$ sure there stout and they work well but imo 7$ blackfoot axles work just as good and NO BARREL NUTS!!! |
