VMG slightly scale crawler Hey guys, I havent posted in a while but im a freind of jinx's :P helped design the tube chassis, anyways, im working on a slightly scale VMG crawler, not ultra scale like those tlts n stuff but the body is alot more scale, and personaly i think it looks beter, also i made a custom alum chassis that is very beta, i just threw it together to get a blue print thats why theres a bunch of holes that have no screws in them lol, also it will a lil over 7 inch wheel base, links made by jinx, and the the custom 4 cell battery pack i made will be mounted on top of the alum chassis untill i redesig it to hold the 4 cell at a lower point, and also my custom rims and cut tires heres some pics, what do you guys think. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...rsexyjerry.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...rsexyjerry.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ssissofar1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ssissofar2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...hassispic1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/tiremod1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/tiremod2.jpg |
 too bad those rims wont work with the hex nut :? |
actualy they will work, just will take some modifacation to either the hub of the wheel or the axle stub, i think first i am going to mod the wheel if not then the stub because these wheels give me some more width when i have them on, and i can run a few different tires, and they are perty :P lol actualy, the first mod would be to drill a tiny hole into the hub where it goes onto the axle stub, then take one of those lil hex bolts that are like for tightening a pinion to a shaft for an engine, u know the ones, well, i would get one bigger than the hole, and tighten it onto the shaft, this should work, i am going to try running it like this for a while if its not working im going to drill an ultra small hole into the axle shaft and then cut a line into the hub, kinda like the little pin on the larger scales that falls out when u take that little hex bolt off lol, and then i would tighten it down. Anyways, I am going to the store today to get some stuff to lock my diffs, any suggestions, only front, only rear or both, ive done 1/10 crawling but idk if it would be any different for small scale, im thinking of locking one diff then trying it out in the front then switching to the back and if i still dont like it try both. Also getting some stuff to waterproof axles, esc, and other stuff. Sorry for long post |
wow guys quit replying so much !!!! haha jk, i know theres much cooler things to look at, but ill post anyways, maybe someone will wanna try it, heres some more pics after i finished up the tire and rim mods http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../111111111.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...2222222222.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...3333333333.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...4444444444.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...5555555555.jpg any suggestions, any comments, anyone care ? lol Vegerito |

thanks guys, im waiting on my micro servo from tower and my links from jinx then ill get some action pics :D |
the diffs look really wide have you made it wider or is it the tyres |
Nope, stock, its just my new rims, they widen it a little bit, hopefully my links and servo will be here soon, sucks just looking at the axles and chassis sitting there lol. |
got my new mini servo mounted to the axle, really simple just using the stock steering link lol. jinx finished up my new links and lengthening my drive shafts so should be here soon, once i get it back together ill get some pics |
hey man lookin good so far. tires and wheels are awsome, sooo much better than the stockers. the body looks great to. any chance it was inspired by my dakota...LOL |

I like the ford body much better  looks like its just about ready for some action soon :-P keep up dah good work and keep us up to date on the status of that beast. |
Thats looking pretty good. Cant wait to see it in action... Good job man |
did you use hex adapter to run those rims |
no, they are rims off a truck from walmart lol, the company is called New Bright, I know other people have used their bodies before, but, while i was modding the body for my vmg, I noticed the wheels were pretty nice, and the stock tires fit right on them, so i had to bore them out a little and drill a hole through the hub of the rim and a very ultra tiny hole through the axle stubs or whatever they are called, and i run a pin through there, works great. |
|
sick vmg very cool keeep up the ggod work |
ya, it will be alot better when my links come in !! |
looks good man but I think I like the dodge body better...just needs some paint :) |
