Need some help with aluminum axle C's

I picked these up on eBay a long time ago to replace my worn out fat rock axle C's.

I have tried to use the stock steering knuckles and these after market aluminum knuckles, I got in a trade along time ago. The aluminum knuckles fit the high lift axles perfect..

The problem I'm having is there's binding, when I turn the axle shaft turning the knuckles left or right. I know the stock knuckles can be run in 2 different ways with the fat rock axle C's and these don't seem to have the same design has the fat rock.. Has anyone used these aluminum axle C's?? What steering knuckles did you use??

Any help or information would be nice and thank you!!

Doesn't a stock Tamiya knuckle have a high side and a low side? They couldn't be flipped over because if they were the axle doesn't line up correctly with the out axle. Is that happening here?

I'm not sure - I know mine bind on occasion when building up, I just swap them around and bend stuff until I get things to work smoothly. Think I'm running the same combo here, not sure. I'm not aware of one side being taller, but they are side specific in the kit.

Note the upper part of the C is at a slight angle...turns smooth though.

Yes it does , EeePee. I flipped the axle C to line up with the out axle.. It still binding when I turn the wheel.. These axle C's don't have a high side or a low side which is weird. Cause the fat rock axle C's did have that to work right

Hey OSRC.

I think you have fat rock axle C's and the same aluminum knuckles I got in a trade.. The fat rock axle C's where made the same way as the stock tlt axles had a high and a low side. You had to watch which way you installed them or there would be binding on the axle shafts..

Seems like that answers that? Unless the inner and outer axle are inline I guess…

Or, maybe a screw is rubbing the pivot the wrong way?

I've built 20 sets of TLT's over the years and never knew the high side/low side thing. Huh. Guess you really do learn something every day

I think I got those same c's. I had the same issue as well, first with the stock knuckles then with some cheap aluminum ebay knuckles. I played with them a while and bent the upper and lower tabs a little at a time until they worked. Now they work great.
