My first crawler

Well I'm new to crawling and just purchased my first tlt. My first question is it did not come with an esc and I was debating on which one to buy. Should I buy a tekin rebel 2, or a novak super rooster? Also the guy I bought it from said it needed new output pinions cause the old ones where drilled out too much, how hard are those to replace? Sorry for the newb questions but I only want the best for my new toy!

-Aluminum ladder frame chassis with verticle plates. Custom 4-links mounted to MSD upper link mounts.
-Maxx driveshafts, Locked TLT axles. Rear aluminum lockouts, and wideners all the way around.
-Losi yellow coil springs and traxxas maxx shocks on each corner.
- Lay-down Stampede tranny, locked, with aluminum idler gear and bearings.
- Lathe motor, pinion and spur.
- Hitec Metal Geared, high torque servo, JR Transmitter and receiver.
-Proline Moabs mounted on Tamiya Wild Dagger wide wheels.
-Aluminum flatbed with Swamp Dawg spare. -Bruder MAN cab with LED's and ORCRC and Montana Scale Design decals.

The guy that you bought that from had somebody from here build it for him. Im sure he'll chime in. I just got one of those cabs and a unimog too. Not sure if im gonna keep them or sell them. Love the way they look though :)

That's Vinny's rig from ORCRC! Nice score!"thumbsup"

Personally, if you can find a Super Rooster, get it.

I havent even sent out a payment yet for it, but I won it off of ebay this morning, it was built by montana scale designs, and I believe the guy I bought it from is Ryan Gerrish off of orcrc.com

thanks dez, I am really stoked about it and cant wait to get started on it. It looked like the perfect chassis for me because I wanted something simple that would perform well.

I'd put the springs on the shocks, but that's just me.
That chassis would be cool leaf-sprung.
That MAN cab looks great. Wher do you guys find these cool bodies?
You know what would be really cool for this rig? A tow-truck setup on the bed. An old-school twin boom w/ 2 winches. Make it the super-burly recovery vehicle.

the cab was made by bruder check out ebay they have a few of them

Nice man, you are the dude that sniped me with 4 secs left. It kindda hurt, and I was willing to pay the money. Oh well. Did you use a sniper program or did you just sit there and wait?

Also, does the same builder have another truck like that for sale. I was doing the build cost comparative and it is slightly cheaper and easier to get a setup like that.

Darn, I was stoked about getting the truck, but no luck.

I know how you feel it took me 5 trys before I got a crawler. I bid $417 and got it for $350, sorry man

Oh yeah and I left work to go home and sit in front of the computer for 15 minutes

Vinnys rig! good score man that thing is cool. It needs some scale dirt on it though. Be sure and get us some pics of it out on some rocks or dirt or whatever. Have fun with it, and welcome to the hobby/sport.

looks good. now score.

shocker 01-12-2007 02:03 PM

lookin' good, super rooster!

MafiaxB 01-12-2007 03:53 PM

i like the way that one is setup - rear lockouts are a great idea :)

nice pick!

SUPER ROOSTER!

swapping out the output pinions is pretty easy - take a part the axle ( all 8 screw/nuts) and then remove the Eclip from the pinon - lift out and replace
