My BMVii Comp Rig "Exile" 1/31/07 Now with FRONT DIG!

I just got the chassis in the mail and am impressed. I built it and installed all my electronics. The COG is waaay lower than my SW2 with just as much ground clearance. I ran it for a few minutes in my front yard. I tried climbing a few things that my SW2 had difficulty(near vertical) and from the get go it went father than the SW2..it took a few tries to get up and usually with a few blips of the throttle i made it. I have no doubts that this will outperform my SW2!

The funny thing is that some guys in my club watched my SW2 follow supers in some areas and couldnt wait to build thier SW2. Now that I built the BMVii I dont think i would even run my SW2 in a comp. Im actually not wanting to show them this, that way I have a nice advantage, LOL! I will get pics and vid of it performing this weekend.

My setup:

BMVii chassis
A little under 12 1/2 inches wheelbase
RC4WD Super Narrow beadlocks(total weight is 10.5 ounces in front and 9.5 ounces in rear)
Mamba 25
Holmes Hobbies Revolver 2
Custom 7 cell AA pack
Airtronics 200 ouce servo

Here are some pics. I will use the stampede body for now...until I get something new.

My only worry is how the chassis will hold up over time. I will definitly be ordering another. I cant wait to run it and see how it performs. I will be comparing it to my Super class clod that I will have done by the end of the week.

Congrats and welcome to the club!

To make it perform even better, check out the wedge in my BM-VII build.

Gets the rear output and yoke up and out of your way!

Looks like a low-rider next to the SW2!"thumbsup"

Yeah Ive been hearing about this wedge..i guess I have to check it out.

Its soo much lower yet with the same ground clearance and lower cog. Its a win win situation. I cant wait to go crawl with it this weekend.

What did you make the wedge out of? I've been thinking about running one of these BMv.2.

PM sent!"thumbsup"

Very sharp.

Many of the BMVii guys around here run their ESC and receiver on the rear axle plate. Weight in the tires is going to be a must do option.

Man I need to get one!

bugman72 01-09-2007 08:15 AM

The build looks great! You can definitely tell that the COG will be lower than with the SW2. Now, go with a Stealth/Losi/Evader tranny and notice the difference!

Oh, and Dez...don't be thinking you're going to win too many comps...:) And just remember...you didn't invent EVERYTHING!! :):)

This is the second time I've seen this chassis, and I have to say I'm inpressed with the simplicity. The COG looks super-low. I'd like to try one.
Can you adjust where the transmission sits on the "frame rails"? So you could bias the weight a little more toward the front and make it like a 60/40 or 55/45 chassis?

bugman72 01-09-2007 08:33 AM

Absolutely! That's the beauty of this chassis...loosen the two set collars on the tranny plate and slide it forward or backwards. You can completely change how the truck performs in a matter of a couple minutes.

Jamesbernatchez,

Two very nice lookin trucks! I'd tilt the pinion up some as already mentioned. Great color blue, is that candy blue with silver and then white backing? Which bl JRH motor is that?

True enough, need to give credit to BM72 for the wedge, he runs it on his BMVII and I just made my own version.

Should make for some great battles in the 2.2 class this year.

As for the comps, may the better man win!"thumbsup"

That's funny, because in the pic the sw-2 tranny and cog is lower, how can the bmvii be a low rider then?

?????

How exactly is it lower?

The SW2s tranny and the BM-VIIs tranny appear to be at the same height. I used a straight edge on the pic of the two chassis side by side. The BM-VIIs increased center chassis clearance just makes it look higher than the SW2.

Take into account that on the BM-VII, there are no chassis side plates, upper links, shocks, hardware, or anything else above the top of the tires.

This pics w/ the bodys on tells the real story, no comparison!

The CG on a BM-VII is much lower than the SW2, not even close IMO.

S-Dog 01-09-2007 01:20 PM

Dez said it "LOOKS" like a lowrider compared to the SW2... I agree. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

After work ill take some measurements to see who wins :)

The COG is definitly lower on the BMV. My esc and receiver are mounted towards the top of the SW2. When putting the truck against my wall the BMV is almost at vertical before it tips!

Ill shoot more pics tonight!
