Default My new project: HellSpawn (build thread)

Now that my "illegal Alien" is done (PTI axles and tranny) it's time to start a new project . This time the chassis is called "HellSpawn".

First a few pics...

The chassis was designed by me and JetBoat and jetcut by a friend. The idea was to use studs in motorplate and radioplate to get rid of excess screws and bolts while still maintaining the stiffness in the chassis.

At the moment braces are still missing, but there are going to be two of them. Both upperlinks mounting holegroups are going to have one each.

I know I'm going to use Stealth tranny, but that's just about it. For the rest of the parts only time will tell .

I do, though, have some ideas of the setup...
Maybe Axial axles with T-maxx driveshafts, Mamba Max with some brushless motor, Losi Rock claws on Axial beadlocks, Bluebird BMS-630MG servo(s?), 7-cell 2/3AA battery.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Feedback... Anything?

I do like a the "tab and slot" construction and Jetboat has a great idea with the powdercoating too! I'm currently running the Rock Claws/Axial combo on my WK, very nice tires.

Default Braces

Finally had time to continue HS.

I noticed the Stealth-tranny's motor protection plate (or something) was leaning towards the chassis plate so I cut it off. Saved a couple grams there too, LOL.

Then I went to the drawer and got some M3 allthread and brakeline tubing for the braces. The process was simple: I cut two pieces of brakeline and two a bit longer pieces of allthread and bolted the chassis plates together with them. Nice and clean... And after all easy! Took ~30secs to bolt the chassis up after the pieces were cut!

That was it this time thanks for reading .

With the allthread and nuts poking out your bringing down the look of your killer chassis. Get some castle nuts or some spikes or something.

Looks good other than that, just MHO.

The Chassis is sick.

MODS
ya moved it to the wrong place.

"Now that my "illegal Alien" is done (PTI axles and tranny) it's time to start a new project ."

This is a new project and has a stealth tranny and no axles mentioned yet.

Chepop: Good question . There aren't any, and there might not even be any. The mods moved the thread to wrong place :-(.

glad to see its coming together.... Axial axles might not be bad under it, would prolly be one of the first "aftermarket" chassis' fitted to axial parts.

After a long time I finally got the money to get some more parts and will (hopefully) continue this weekend.

Hint... It'll be built on TLT-axles.

Ahh... Finally I got something done, hopefully more today .

The TLT-axles I got didn't have a servo/linkplate. Neither did I have proper aluminium plate available out of which I could manufacture it so I decided to manufacture the plate out of 3mm acryl. Hope it'll stand the stress (if it won't I'll have the plate made out of 3mm aluminium).

First I had to clean the dirt and mud from the inside (I guess that's what happens when you drive in the water)... After that I designed the plates and cut them from acryl and bolted them on.

The steering rods need some work and I guess I won't be running BTA steering either. I also may have to sink the bolts.

The prototype result looks like this.

Today I got the servo mount done. Also noticed it's amazingly slow to manufacture parts from scratch with only a drill and a handheld steelsaw !

Maybe next weekend I'll have the links and the driveshafts done...
