Default Tracer or SW2

I am planing on ordering a rolling chassis soon. I am leaning to the Tracer because of price. Is the stock TLT trans. alright for just playing around. I am not going to be in comp.( maybe later when I move to Nevada).Or is it better to drop the extra $170 on the SW2 to have the Traxxas trans?

if you plan on advancing and being anyway competative, or trying more difficult obstacles i would go with the SW2

depends on how much you plan on spending later on , think of it as preventive maint.

whybuy somthing that is going to be about worthless when you want to start doing comps?

bite the bullet and get the Bender
that way you can save the $ and upgrade different components later , you wont have to start all over down the road....

Diamondbackrc,

I just bought a new Tracer Kit. It's a very nice kit and would serve my purposes well, but as I started putting things together, I think I might want something more serious. My truck is not totally built yet and has never been off the carpet. If you decide to go with the Tracer I will offer you a great deal on mine (I'm not totally 100% sure I want to sell it yet, but probably will). Send me an email bret_kissick@msn.com

NO Tracer if you want to really crawl...there are many capable chassis (SW2 is one) that use Pede, Stealth, etc tranny (not belt driven!) and will serve you far better than the Tracer chassis kit.

Where are you buying an SW2 for $170? I'll sell you one of mine for that price, and turn around and buy a new one and pocket the other $105. SW2's only run $95 if you want the link mounts, $65 if you make your own link mounts. That being said, definitely go with the SW2, not the tracer, save yourself the headaches.

I think he meant $170 because of the extras like the tranny and links.

Oh good, I would hate to see someone spend a ton of extra cash needlessly.

I was looking at rolling chassis at the crawler store. SW2 is about $170 more than Tracer. That is TLT, tires. links, tranny, SW2 kit, every thing except electronics

I feel your pain. It took me awhile to find a chassis. But i finally settled on this one http://www.reignrc.com/scale.html. It is a little more scale but will fit alot of upgrades I think. Atleast I hope.

Thanks for the input, I guess I will go with the SW2. Will have to save for a couple more weeks, too many projects going at once.

I had a tracer kit and i didnt like it a lot. It was to narrow, it rolled over to easy, and those damn dogbone shafts. The SW2 may be more expensive but id pick it over the tracer any day.

SW2 because you wont have to worry about the stock drivetrain which is belt driven and prone to slipping
