Default tlt axle question....

I heard somewhere that you can leave off the inner c-clip from the axles so that after a breakage you don't have to disassemble the whole axle.....you can just slide it out. any one ever try this??are there any precautions to take if I do it?? thanks again.....

I looked at my options for quick change like this a couple weeks ago while replacing a twitsted off shaft. It's not worth it imo to leave them off...they are what hold the ring and pinion mesh properly...and mine are of course shimmmed for best mesh. You could build a couple spare complete axles housing and all or just replace them in the field like I do. It doesn't take that long to do...just take apart only what you have to. I'd rather not chew up ring and pinoions in addition to the axles.
