Anyone use this method to connect Maxx Shafts to TLT?

I'm builiding a SW2 chassied crawler and modded some Maxx shafts for it.

Based on info from Bender I bought the Traxxas output yokes, which I modded to fit the Stampede tranny. Fits nice and tight because they are pinned the whole way through.

Now for the axles, I really wanted to drill the pinion shaft, but it didn't want to happen for me! Since i couldn't get the holes drilled, I didn't think the yoke would hold up well...just didn't fit well for me.

What I did was take the stock TLT drive cup...the piece that normally would bolt to the differential and fit it inside the stock maxx yoke. I drilled and then used a grinding stone on the dremel that was the perfect diameter to fit the cup inside.

I had to shorten the drive cup to get full range from the shafts, but with the metal drive cup bolted onto the dif, and the max shafts pinned through that, it seems like a good fit...really secure.

To change the yokes, I put them in hot water for a couple minutes and then used a make-shift ball joint installer...went on with no grinding or difficulties at all.

Here is a pic.
First is the yoke changer made from a crappy screwdriver.
Second is the Maxx shaft / TLT drive cup combo.
Last is the Maxx shaft with the output yoke that fits the Stampede tranny.

If anyone is running this set up, can you tell me if it's holding up for you?

That looks like it should work fine. "thumbsup"

That is a pretty good idea, it can be a pain to drill the hole in the pinion shaft...."thumbsup". Just make sure you use threadlocker on the stub screws holding the drive cup to the pinion shaft.

I did that on the Yellow Jacket.

That is how I mounted the REVO shafts on my Rig. 8)

This working out good for you guys?

I hope it does because it was alot easier than drilling the pinion!

It works great... no issues at all.
