Default Attention Nate!-three speed question.

Figured I'd ask before I blow 80 bucks and start striping gears-is the Tamiya three speed semi tranny like what you used in you're dualy project very durable? I would like to run one with Jugg tires mainly because of the gear reduction (by my figureing a 60:1 threw just the T-case and tranny is possible). Whats you're opinion?

Thanks man!

I think that the transmission is a lot more durable then the transmission used for even the bruiser. The constant mesh gears make it easier to shift without grinding. For everything that i have used them in, the dually and the semi trucks, I think they are pretty good. There was a guy on RCMT that mounted the 3 speed to the front of a jugg tranny and from my understanding, that worked great. I dont think that i would make a 2wd say using jugg axles and tires hooked straight to the tranny, but if you add at least 3:1 gear reduction in the transfer case you should be good to go. I will post pics later of the t-case that i am going to used with my tlt axles.

Alright thanks man! -I should have a fairly low reduction in the case useing the gears I plan on so hopefully everthing will be hunky doory. BTW did you ever get the dually back from RCCA?
