Alright..

Where would RCRockGear send a loaded Bulu2 rig to be compared? Myself and hackster have been talking about this lately. Just tell us where to send the rig ;)

Haha... I'd say send it here and then after some CO bashing, I'll send you a loaded TSC, but that's my only working RC right now, and if anything were to short in the water over there I'd be out my only rev. esc and high torque servo.... along with what little money I have. I'd be happy to send you a chassis that you could bolt up one of your TLT's to, as long as I get it back when all is done.

Who has a good contact with PRP?

If you are serious about this, I'd be glad to drive your Bulu2. We could have a little comp with Griz, PWT, and the BULU2. The red rocks site we went to this weekend would be a great place to do the shootout.

Well... Let's setup some rig requirements that would need to be included. Or, RCRockGear would be happy to donate a Bulu2 chassis to the testing, then have it be raffled off at the end of the chassis diagnosis

I'm dead serious about doing the "small fry chassis test-off" for RCCrawler.

Yea, send one to Jason and he can be your driver. We could do a comp along with some follow the leader trail stuff to get a feel for them both ways. Then we can all switch vehicles so that each person gets wheel time with each truck.

Friggin awesome, I hope Jason's dog dont eat the little truck though, dats a big dawg.

I think you should set up a rig like you guys do it up North, that way you can be certain the chassis was setup right. I would be happy to install electronics in it for the testing. I could provide wheels and tires if you would like as well.

How soon do you guys plan on doing this?

We should have the test mule for our chassie up and running by sunday-I'd be glad to send it out for some west coast testing ;)

Default RCC "Small-Fry" chassis testing.....

Okay,

I don't want to keep hyjacking Griz's 2.2 thread any more.

For the ultimate "Small-Fry" chassis testing by the RCC staff, this should be the thread.

Since I am Grand Master for RCRockGear, I would be happy to donate a Bulu2 chassis for RCC testing.

Other aftermarket crawler chassis vendors will donate theirs, which will be... ??

How about a list of rig requirements that must be sent for RCC testing.

Chassis:
Tranny(with Spur/pinion)
Driveshafts:
Axles:
Motor:
Shocks:
Tires/Wheels:
ESC:
Servo:
Wheelbase:
Width:
Weight:

Let's get the ball rolling on this.... I'd just be happy to see what others think.

If you guys are serious about doing a scale test we can set it up and I can take measurements of all chassis, get good pics of all of them side by side, have a comp, and post the results, then have a general bash and follow the leader game. Letting all of the testers trade rigs to get different points of view. After all of the I'd write a full report on RCC.

I can line up a few experienced testers to drive the rigs, but I think to make it fair, and unbiased the people that built the rigs can play no part in this process.

If you are interested in making this happen with one of your chassis, I'd ask that you send us one of your trucks complete and ready to run, and when we are done with the test we will return it to you. We will not be responsible for any damage, but will do our best to keep your rigs in the shape they were sent to us in.

As far as a timeline, I am starting to get into my busy season so here is my schedule as far as weekends go:

March 3-6 in vegas, nv
March 12-13 working
March 18-27 moab, ut
April 2-3 open for now
April 9-10 SLC, ut
April 16-17 open

So basically, we can set it up for April 2-3, or April 16-17.

If you are interested in entering into this small scale shootout, please PM me a date that you could have a running rig to me by, and we will go from there.

If you don't break it then that means you weren't really driving it

If they need to be sent as a RTR then I really think that we should all agree on certain requirements needed to be included, like motor, pinion/spur, tires/wheels, etc.. Then there will be a some-what set standard'ness between all the trucks.

I think some standards should exist. Tires should be masher 2k's (since everyone but me thinks they are god, but I do own a new set), motor should be a 55t lathe. The wheelbase should be no less than 11" and no more than 13" Since most 1:10 bodies have a wheelbase of 12" or a little less, this is what should be considered scale. Driveshafts can be stampede or maxx, but not Revo, since they are ungodly large and not scale. A stampede tranny or single motor maxx tranny should be allowed. 2WS should be the standard.

I also think each rig should have to run a stick pack, since not everyone can build their own packs and distribute the weight accordingly, but mounting those stick packs would be up to the vendor's discretion.

What are your thoughts on the above?

So is this to be limited to small scale chassis' that are for sale as a production unit? Is it limited to only scale shafties, or clod based scale chassis' as well?

Kevinlongisland also has a small scale tube/stick chassis he is working on. I think that one is clod based.

Right now I have a rig that uses hotbodies 4" shocks, 12" w.b., t600 motor (could someone donate a lathe for the test?), pede drive shafts, 12t/87t gearing, LRP sport reversing ESC (anyone have a rooster or super rooster for borrow, mine has a reverse delay and reverse time out). Servo is an airtronics high torque metal gear servo.

Here are my feelings on this.

Chassis: Your production chassis with no mods.
Tranny(with Spur/pinion) Whatever tranny your chassis was designed for, whatever pinion you reccommend to your buyers to use.
Driveshafts:whatever your chassis was designed for, or what you use. Do Not upgrade just for this test
Axles: whatever your chassis is primarily used with
Motor:I would suggest lathe motors, unless you prefer something else
Shocks:whatever you generally run
Tires/Wheels:Not sure what works best, but would prefer all rigs run the same so it does not factor into this
ESC:whatever you send us
Servo:whatever you send us
Wheelbase:Whatever your chassis is setup for, maybe we could set a max though
Width:whatever you think works best
Weight:whatever it ends up

EDITED because Jason types faster than me

Here's our entry:

Chassie: Strange "shorty"
Transmission: laydown pede tranny (12/87 gearing)
Driveshafts: Max
Tires: Masher 2K's (on purdy alum rims)
Electronics: 17t Amber Pro, rooster, TQ3 with togel (even though there's no 4ws), Hitec 645mg for stearing duties.

And yes I know we're odd man out

RCRockGear would toss in a 2.2 crawler with specs very closely matching these...

Chassis: Bulu2
Links:REVO pushrods Traxxas #5318X
Tranny(with Spur/pinion) 'Pede tranny, 84 spur/ ?? pinion
Driveshafts:'Pede or Maxx. If selecting 'Pede sliders, will have SS yokes.
Axles: TLT, locked with RCRG Moose Doo
Motor:Integy 55-turn Lathe motor.
Shocks:4" shocks
Tires/Wheels:Pro-Line Mashers on choice of 2.2 wheels.
ESC:Super Rooster
Servo:Something high torque & maybe metal geared
Wheelbase:12.5" wheelbase
Width:No widners, no wide stub axles or adapters.
Weight:Under 6lbs

WTF!! This went from a Clod v.s TLT shootout to a TLT test-fest? All of a sudden The Duke caint play?

Well, I wiill offer up to be a test driver. I should be extremely unbiased since I dont own a TLT. Regardless, The Duke will be there and more than happy to offer up some competition afterward.

Hey I'm all for The Duke being tested right along with the TLT's-it will give people a better perspective of how diffrently a small scale shafty proforms when compaired to a small scale clod ;)

And who said everyone was running TLT axles?

Never said the duke couldn't play, but just to be fair and unbiased you couldn't drive it.
