Arrow *SW-3 Unimoger style, w/ front dig*

I had the privilege of being one of the tester's for the new sw-3, was happy to so it. This is my " agent orange " cj-8 , stage 3 build up. It started life as my first comp rig in 2005 with a bulu 2 chassis, then went to an sw-2 and now the sw-3. I have to say the improvements are very evedent. Lower CG, tranny easy to change out and gears, smaller, lighter, more COG in the middle and still a simple design that anyone can assemble. I tried to buy every part for this rig from vendor's on RCC, hope you all support them.
specs are :
SW-3 tester chassis
Bender customs delrin high clear links
12 3/8" wb
2 3/8 cog
Holmes hobbies revolver 1 w/ mamba 25 esc
Maxx drive lines
Miniwheeler OG design front dig
pede tranny locked and bearings from tammies hobbies
14t pinion and 84t spur
tlt axles locked w/ bearings from tammies hobbies
MSD black pc'd link mount in rear
MSD stainless steel tlt screw kit
6 cell mini t pack 1500 from cheapbatterypacks.com
Fat rock servo mount and axle c's up front
JP's custom rc's knuckles and bearings
maxx big bore shocks from tammies hobbies
hi-tec hs-985mg servo and alum horn from tammies hobbies
Ol' school disco'd CJ-8
narrowed mashers from xtreme rc hobbies
and ofcourse, my new pride and joy, The erickson 2.2 beadlocks w/ optional stainless hardware and black powdercoat, double 6 style From non other than MSD!

Very clean build. I really need to get off my butt and setup a dig for my rig(s).

I love the black powdercoating on the beadlocks. It looks great.

Very nice rig. How do you like the aluminum knuckles. Do you think they are worth the money? I mean do the platic ones break often? So far i have not broken one, but if they are a problem spot them i want the metal ones.
Like said before, the sw3 looks very nice.

I think they help turning quite a bit. They're much smoother even on plastic Cs. I have some on my crawler and on my wife's crawler and even she noticed the better turning tonight when I had her run her truck around the house.

Worth every penny, I would highly recomend getting some.

Love the 3, the mostly blacked out theme with the orange top looks sick!
On your front servo mount I would recomend making an adapter to drop the servo down to the axle. With it stock the servo is way up there kinda defeating the purpose of lowering the cog and it get's in the way of the body alot. Here's a pic of it on my sw3.

I really like the rear brake setup on your dig. Seems like an awesome idea. I am just starting to design my first dig and was going to maybe use the washer method but it would take alot more fabing then that method. Looks like it would hold just fine.

Great rig! Im wondering, why the extra pivot point on the dig linkage? Is it merely to keep the link rod more solid so the slider stays centered?
One more Q- what servo for the disco?

Fawk, Im getting Beneritis. K2, got any more of that medicine?

Great rig Ben.

The extra pivot point is to hold the dig arm when engaging the brake, if you don't use this, the arm will have a chance to counter rotate and break off. much stronger and more reliable this way.

the dig servo is a hi-tec hs85mg, pleanty of strength for the dig and almost bomb proof, I have only broke one.

What exactly locks up the rear axle? I understand from the pics how the driveshaft part works just not the "brakes".

if you look close at the rear of the rear driveshaft, there is only the last 1/8" or so of teeth still on it, when the dig arm goes back it disengages the driveline from the tranny and with the pivot arm holding it solid, the coupler goes back and hits the teeth and stops the rear axle shafts from spinning, hence the brake.

man that is great build when are you having those axial out for sale ? ? ?

nice to see some else froma sw3 bug personally i like jeeps better and the cj8 even better

they are not axial beadlocks, they are ERICKSON 2.2 beadlocks, I have a few in stock right now, but my next big shipment will be late first week or march. watch the vendor section for them.

Plus they're Cloak tested and wifey approved (for her rig). I hear they even extend your penis a couple inches, that's how good they are.

I like that implementation of the dig. I might have to see about doing it that way. I guess the only thing you have to worry about is how poorly you might setup the links if you have a bunch of up and down travel. Even then, this design looks like it accounts for that.
