|  Minimalist Tuber
Finally scratching this itch I've had for a while. Here's my 2nd attempt at a tuber. This one is purpose built for the 2007 rules. We'll see how that theory holds up once it is all together. I started bending last night and did some more work tonight. Specs: - Stealth tranny - OG revolver - mamba 25 or quark. Depends on what I have extra - Shocks from run2jeepn - Wheels - probably some more Eric(k?)sons from Unimoger - Spektrum tx I'd love to setup a dig on this, but I can never get the splines to engage. I might have to hit someone up to make one for me so I can figure out how it actually works. I know all you really came to the thread was for pics, so here you go! Close shot showing off my snot brazing:  Link and shock mounts brazed on with my D90 making a guest appearance. I also know there is nothing on the bottom. I'm planning on putting a piece of delrin or cutting board down there. More to come on that later.  Proof that the height is legal   I asked one of my cats what she thought of it, she wasn't impressed. I told her I would chase her with it once it was running then.  Thanks to the wife for being the 3rd and 4th set of arms. It really makes a few of those brazes easier. |

Looks like a good start, are you planning on running a 60/40 setup or going 50/50? Cats are too fickle. I need lovin' and tail waggin' so I try and stick to dogs! Tom(go ahead, sig it) |

Looks good. I see just on place you should add a tube. I would add one to the front hoop to the main chassis. So the front hoop don't bend front the presure the shocks will put on it.

I was thinking of doing a brace from the windshield area to the hoop. That should make it fairly solid.

Lookin good! I'd love to try a tuber one of these days. Gotta get some fire extinguishers first.....  I chase my wife's chihuahua with the new crawler. Notice, I said my wife's..... I don't claim that little trip hazzard.....:-P |

Draw out a plan in 1:1 scale for the tuber you want to at least give yourself some direction. I also suggest printing out pictures of tubers you like features of so you can either copy or at least get direction from them. I also like 3/16th tubing as it is a little easier to work with and as long as you brace it well is fairly strong. As for the brazing itself, don't be impatient, just let the tubes get nice and hot then start painting the rod on there and it will flow nicely. |

Cloak, this is a total newb question, but what are you using for heat? Can you get away with something simple or do you need to go with a heavy duty torch setup?
