| Axle clocking
Let me reword it. I am working on a new part. So if you could on YOUR rig how many degrees would you like to clock your axles?

It depends on the vertical seperation of your outdrives & your pinion. ^-v It also depends on the distance between your axle & tranny. <---> I don't know the degrees but... My rear driveline, is a RCH from being straight. Keeps the input out of the rocks!!! |

As far clocked as you can go without binding at full compression... atleast that seems like the right answer. That is the approach I am taking to my rig. |

My rear is pointing straight at the tranny, and the front I have clocked up a bit, I would say 5-10*. This gets the pinion up a little and I can slide the front end if I need to by just turning the tires back and forth.

I would start with the pinion angle flat and rotate it up slightly, not much, so it is barely pointed up, but enough that you can see it is not flat. Hope that helps.

When I laid out the Roosterfish and machined up the clocked C's I set up for 18 degrees which keeps the drivelines well above the links and gives a straight horizontal coupling at the diffs with the shocks extended. If I were to do it again I would set up for about 14 degrees for this particular chassis configuration. The amount the pinion axis rotates during articulation depends on the relative lengths of the upper and lower links....and more importantly on the angle between the upper and lower links. C |
