| Pede Tranny Please Help!!
Weekend Warriors, I just put together a pede tranny and mechanically locked it instead of using JB Weld. I wanted to do something cleaner and be able to tear it apart if I needed to rebuild anything. Plus it looks cleaner. I locked it by placing two 3mm nuts underneath the two spider gears to raise them up so they are all level, thus creating the locking effect. Anyways, it seemed to have locked perfectly and appeared rock solid. That was, until I installed the spur gear and the motor. I held the spur gear in place with one hand (simulating where my crawler would be stuck between rocks) and started turning the driveline on the same side as the spur gear. I noticed that when I spin it counter-clockwise, it appears to be locked and spins evenly with the other side. But when I spin it clockwise, it starts to slip and spin freely. If I play with it for a bit, It will seem to catch and then start working again. What the heck is happening? |

I Was Told By Many Crawlers That Mechanically Locking It Was Just As Good As Jb Weld.

use jb weld and you lock all the small gears inside the plastic gear case, make sure the shaft is straight when it comes out of the gear box...hope that helps.
