Reasonable Articulation?

TLT, SW2, 12.5 WB, 2 ½? CG - What amount of articulation would be reasonable/ acceptable/ optimal? I can get a put a tire on top of a stick pack battery standing on end. Whoopie… It is not a Scale Rig but I would like it to be comparable to a 1:1 comp. rig.

Generally a normal 12oz pop can (5.5") is used as a somewhat standard for flex/articulation. Most have found that you really don't need any more than that for a capable crawler. Some of the torsion crawlers only have 1"-3" of articulation and do quite well due to a low CG.

However, you can have too much articulation in your suspension.

My current comp truck doesn't have a ton of flex, but it is very predictable on the rocks. Just build your truck up and run it, tweak it from there.

I'd say 5" max is about all you need for a 2.2 Class rig, or about the height of a 2.2 Moab.

You get to much and you'll be flopping over all the time.
