| To Much Weight On Axle ?
how much is to much for weight on a front axle ? im building my rig up and i planned on using some 2/3 cells for the truck but iam having trouble locating some loose cells and bars. so i thought about using a sub c 3300 pack,4 cells on bottom 2 on top on my fat rock servo/battery mount but with the BB's in my tires the front end is very heavy. i have a postal scale shuts off at 3lbs and the front end maxes that out. |

It depends...and it's a balancing act between front and rear. Also depends on the terrain, if it helps hillclimbing it usually hinders your descent. I'm running gp3300 sub-C pack up front and lead on the front and rear wheels. EDIT: See my post below...5 lbs. rtr give or take an ounce. Last edited by Natedog; 03-27-2007 at 12:42 AM. |

If the front alone weighs that much, you better stock up on spare axle parts, as you will put a lot of stress on them. I have run an 8 cell 3000 subc pack before, 6 on the front and 2 on the rear, but I didn't have any weight in the tires. My whole truck weighs 5.2lbs with an 8cell 2/3A pack.

I run 8 2/3 A cells on the ft. and 2oz in each tire with another 2oz on each side of the axle inside the wheel. So,,,,,,,, 8cells plus 8 oz and it works pretty well. No axle trouble. Total rig weight about 5 3/4lbs. As far as batteries -http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/ |

Just weighed my truck and it is five pounds ready to crawl...give or take an ounce. I used my bathroom scale, weighed myself with and without the truck. This scale is pretty accurate. I will use a large postal scale when I have time.

Got those cells for you in the mail today On a 2.2 I would use smaller cells with tire weight. As far as how much weight to add, depends on where you crawl and how much your tires need to hook up. Takes a while to play with it and find the right balance. |
