Default "Drooper da Comp Tuber" nearly done. pics & specs.

After seeing the tuber that gimbal made for unimoger, I knew that is the design I wanted to go with... here is the final product (with gimbals permission, of course)

Specs are:
Chassis- approx 9" long, approx 4" high, and 4" wide.
Ground Clarence- just over 2.5"
Suspension- 3.5" shocks front, 4" shocks rear, full droop (not dialed in yet)
Links- Upper Carbon fiber, Lower metal tubing
Wheel Base- 12.5"
Axles- TLT, locked (5 spider gear method) all alum. goodies
Transmission- R2
Rollers- Erikson beadlocks with 2.2 moabs (industry standard)
Powerplant- Hyperion 3015 and mamba 25 esc

good articulation.

Pretty much where all electronics are gonna be placed, very cramped but everything clears.

All that is left is to get my driveshafts done and get it outside.

One quick question for the "rule makers"... would this setup require some type of side panels? Not sure due to the large lower skid (it is sorta like a side panel in and of itself) Let me know; they are no prob to fab up.

Looks nice!

It's gonna need a hood and roof for sure...
I'll let others weigh in on the side panel question, though.

Is it even big enough to meet the size requirements?

You may have resistance on whether that "resembles a 1:1" as well...
Since the front of the hood is nearly as tall as the cab section.

based on the following, yes.

2.2 crawler class tube chassis' are allowed with the following restrictions. Over all dimension of the complete chassis must be atleast 8" overall length, 3" overall width, 3.75" overall height, the roof must be raised from the main chassis to resemble a cockpit and it must have hood, roof and side panel's. Tube chassis should resemble a 1:1 vehicle.

well..... I would say it does "resemble" one, but I am sorta biased here. That statement leaves alot for interpretation.

nice truck. what thickness plate did you use for the bottom skid? i'm building my tuber right now as well, and was wondering if the 16 gauge plate i got sitting around would be thick enough.

As a judge, I would suggest it needs side panels (albeit small ones), hood and roof.

Looks great otherwise and based on your measurements, I'd allow it.

this was my first "complete" tuber build up. If you have a capable rig to gauge off of (I used my XRC chassis for some measurements); it actually is very easy. Making one out of thin air, is a bit harder. It didn't hurt having gimbals design as a guide.

I made my roof and hood panels last night, now I just need to get some side panels mounted. They dont have to be painted do they? I like them clear.

That's true. Cincy to Columbus isn't terrible, but the next 2 1/2 hours to the spot is real boring, until the very end.

Didn't see ya today. I don't think.
