Harley0706 BMVii Build Well for some reason I got bit by the comp crawler bug again and had to build one. For quite some time I have had mostly had scalers. The BMVs have been doing really well at our local comps so I figured for the price and ease of assembly why not use it. So I found a BMVii chasis from Giveereh here on the board. I called Kevin up at TCS and had him send some stiff out to me: Mashers Axial Beadlocks R2 Trans HPI Baja Bug Mamba 25 and he sent me a new brushless outrunner motor he is maybe going to sell. I ran to Wal-mart and picked up 10,000 .12g airsoft pellets for wheel weights. I got a new MX-3 radio from jeff, jwcustomwurks, who lives a few miles away from me. I decided to build this on sunday and started with $55 and a few parts. Just by trading and selling parts I had everything here to build it by thursday. Total retail build cost is right at $680 Specs: BMVii TLT Axles R2 Tranny Mamba 25 Brushless Outrunner MX-3 Radio 8t pinion Alum Yeah Racing Knuckles Hitec 645mg Pede shafts, picking up steel yokes sat Airsoft BB's filling tires 2/3 full Masher 2ks Axial Beadlocks Cheap Battery, picking um a 2/3a sat and having a custom pack made too. Excuse the 1 hour paint job, I was just anxious to get it on. I taped it out on my lunch break at work and then just painted like crazy when I got home. Looks good, ad a wedge to the rear."thumbsup" |
you got a 2x4 I can cut and wood screw to it? haha I loved the shadow project, only reason I picked the BMV I will work in a wedge as soon as I can find some suitable material. |
Check out Draven's BM. I just used some aluminum L channel for the wedge on it."thumbsup" |
I like the colors man"thumbsup" Whole rig looks good..can't wait to see it perform |
Yeah I think the colors look real good, the local paint store had a few to pick from! Thanks for the paint, I will make sure to get you more! Josh |
love the colors!!! looks great |
Very nice. Every time I see one of these BMVii builds I want to get another set of axles and start one of my own. |
Looks cool. Are you bringing it to the GTG tomorrow? |
I hustled my arse off to have everything here, built, and running for this weekend so I could have something capable to bring. Neil (Freq E Tag) and I were on the phone and trading about 10 times this week, everytime I put up an add he seemed to have it. haha Neil - "Maybe you should just tell me what you want or need" |
nice rig looks good |
I think I just wet myself |
Well I just took it outside for some minor testing. This motor has some crazy crazy crazy power. Which results in problems for me........................ate my first drive shaft. Came in and replaced it. Went back out..................ate my first axle shaft. Came in and replaced it. Went back out...................had a friggin blast. Uploading pictures now, they are night time pictures so you will have to excuse them! |
Crap that looks great! |
good pics man"thumbsup" |
Great looking bug.Nice color choice |
Great build...looks good! For some reason, I keep thinking about tearing apart my SW2 and building somehting like this. I think it is my curiosity to see just how well it performs. Is there a certain terrain that these excel at and also terrain that it doesn't do well on? Any info is appreciated! |
Good to see my bmv going to good use"thumbsup" |
