Default Perfered dig type?

OK well heres my story, i did the 4 wheel steering thing on my tlt for a while it was cool but i would beat the crap outta the rear servo and strip gears, and it was gettin annoying so i stoped using rear steering, but i still have the same 3 ch radio. Anyways im looking at a dig setup and it looks way sweet, i could definetly use it in places, but there seems to be 2 different methods, one where the rear axle is detached, and locked from spinning, and the other that detaches the rear axle, but still lets it free wheel.

Now there are obvious advantages to both but what is the perfered method!

thanks, ben

Btw : i used google to spell check perfered by typing it in a clicking search... the first thing that comes up is "Prefered method of suicide" :-P

well rnt you special gettin best of both worlds :-P ... although this gets me thinking.... i could setup my tq3 with a 3 position switch...with one position that engages it the shaft... another that slides it a lil ways to let it free wheel , and another that locks it out ... HMM the ideas start flowing!

Use a T shaped servo horn on the solo end attach a rod that will be driven into your wheel and lock it,onthe other ends attach that to the dig mech activator they will attch to the dig on the drive line. Set those to up with collors and springs so that they will both pull back on the dig(driveline side) and be allowed to move free lee when tou use the lock side.

Probally doent make much snese but it is really simple

Do a search for user name "onesmoothtranny". He did a nice write up of this set up on his sniper build

Thats very clean and simple, I thought about doing the same thing. The linkage idea I have used takes some patience to set up but takes next to zero fab skills.
