R2 mount orientation

Does anyone have any thoughts on mounting an R2 tranny on it's side, so that the motor (crawlmaster, in this case) sits above the output shaft - allowing me to position it (output shaft) to sit down the centre line of the truck?

Or is it better to mount the tranny with the right way round?

It is desinged to be mounted either way, but you get a better COG by laying it down.
