I already did that, worked good untill i lost a couple of teeth on the bevel gear and that ended up chewing up a couple teeth on the ring gear. So i thought that if i purchased a hardened bevel gear without replacing the ring diff gear with something harder it would just end up stripping the teeth off the ring. So i figured buy a spool.

Lock it with epoxy until you can get ahold of a locker. Using the 3rd gear works, but I've broken two spider gear carriers, and trashed one TLT housing doing this. One time it happened the day before a comp, but luckily I had everything to rebuild it. I've never had an epoxied diff come apart.
